Oral Fixation World Tour 2006/2007 (known as Tour Fijación Oral to Spanish-speaking countries) is a concert tour which began in June 2006 in support of Shakira's 2005 Fijación Oral Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation Vol. 2 albums. On this tour, Shakira performs her newest hits as well as songs from her back-catalogue.

History

The tour began its first European leg on June 14 2006, in Zaragoza, Spain moving through an additional 10 cities in Spain, as well as stops in Croatia, Romania, Greece and Russia.

The North American leg of the tour commenced August 9 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas and moved across the United States, with a stop in Toronto, Canada.

On September 30, the tour began its Latin American leg in Mexico City, with 8 sold out concerts at the Palacio de los Deportes, and swept through Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Puerto Rico and ended in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Before ending the Latin American leg, Shakira returned to Miami in early December for 3 concerts at the American Airlines Arena, where the DVD for the concert was filmed.

A second European leg began on January 25 in Hamburg, Germany, where Shakira performs in nine cities. Shakira will also perform in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and will culminate as the 100th show in the UK at London's Wembley Arena on March 18. A date in Torrevieja, Spain has since been added immediately following the London show.

A tour stop in Dubai was confirmed January 24, by Mirage Promotions. Shakira seemed very excited and said "I have heard a lot about Dubai and performing in the Middle East for the first time will be something special. The Dubai performance will be one of the biggest shows on my 2007 tour." [1] The concert will take place in the Dubai Autodrome in front of 25,000 fans. Mirage Promotions, who booked Shakira for the Dubai show, is also negotiating with Shakira's promoters for a show in Cairo, Egypt. A show in Cairo has since been confirmed for March 28th.

Dates for a second Latin American leg, which would include 8 stops in Brazil, 1 in Paraguay, 1 in Uruguay, 8 in Mexico and additional stops in Argentina are rumoured but not confirmed.

On February 3rd 2007 Shakira was scheduled to appear in the Netherlands. While a full stadium, containing 39,000 people, was waiting for Shakira her official management confirmed that the show was rescheduled to March 17th. Shakira was ill and had a been advised to rest her voice. Shakira gave her manager the following letter to pass out to the crowd:

"I am very sad I cannot perform tonight. Holland is one of my favorite places on earth and I have been looking forward to doing this show for a long time. I promise I will make it up to you when I come back in March to give you the concert that the Dutch people deserve. Thanks for your understanding. All my love, Shakira." On February 4th, Shakira's management also confirmed that the shows in Germany on 5th and 6th February were cancelled, but rescheduled for March.

After recovering from bronchitis and performing at the 2007 Grammy Awards, Shakira continued the tour from Paris, on February 16th with no further cancellations to date.

On the February 19th date in Munich, Germany, a live webcam in the stadium allowed fans to watch the show for free from home.

Shakira also confirmed a tour date in Mumbai, India, for March 25th.Around 20,000 people attended the concert. It was one of the biggest concerts in India by an International Artist.

DVD Release

Footage of the December 2006 dates in Miami is expected to be used as part of a live DVD of the Oral Fixation Tour which is likely to be released sometime in 2007. Although collaborators Alejandro Sanz and Wyclef Jean both made appearances at these dates, more information, including the exact tracklist is not yet known.
