Article Improvement Drive
Article Improvement Drive

Article improvement drive is a weekly collaboration to improve non-stub articles to featured article status.

Two collaborations are selected each week by registered users from ten candidates. Nominations are placed under Pending nominations with an explanation of what work is needed, and held there until they are both seconded and the queue before them is empty. Each Sunday; the two articles with the least support are dropped; the two with the highest become the AID collaborations for the week, and the remaining six are dropped to the bottom of the Pending list. Articles in the Pending category may receive votes, but cannot actually become AID candidates until they cycle up through to Nominations again. Please place an asterisk next to an article's nomination for each time it enters the 'Nominations' category.

Nominations

Next two project articles to be selected on 10 April. Ten nominations are voted on each week, please put overflow nominations under Pending.
Reason

For such an important topic in American and world history, barely anything has been written so far. This should not be hard to research.--Vorpalbla 15:00 3/27/05

An extremely important topic and one that is particularly difficult for non-specialists (such as the writer) to comprehend, given the complex nature of the war and the various factions involved. Lisiate

This is actually a current FA, but it is listed on WP:FARC. Definitely needs help. Let's see... It needs more references, neads an actual lead section, not rambling info, needs to talk about more specific geysers, really, it just needs to be actually comprehensive in the first place.

Relatively obscure concept which has nevertheless produced several well known works (such as the Inferno and the Riverworld).

Currently stuck in the Wiki no-man's-land: too long for the COTW and so short it looks doubtful. But it looks like an interesting subject - the Yugo was Car Talk's "Worst car of the millenium", so that must count for something. -Litefantastic 14:32, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Good character; should be fun. Maurreen 07:56, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Reason

Jules Henry (1963) in Culture Against Man questioned the authority of and rationales behind our cultural institutions, particularly education. In Pathways to Madness (1965), he challenged ideas about mental and developmental disorders and asked us to consider the how disease and disorder arise from dependencies on families and institutions. His work that presaged much of our current focus on finding ways to improve failing schools and contend with a culture that is educated primarily by paid media is hugely influential, but largely left out of print and hard to find.

Author of two seminal works with crossover interest in sociology, enthography, psychology, anthropology and education, Jules Henry is a major contributor to our past and present understanding of culture as a diverse body of dependent parts. He argued in favor of recognizing the collective nature of experience and in favor of analyzing and constructing institutions with greater collectivity and social responsibility in mind.

Needs to be expanded in general - too small sections on economy, geography, demographics, culture (hello, Buddhism?). Also there's nothing on government, both Chinese and the government in exile. Lots more to be said, but its fairly close to FA status.--Dmcdevit 22:23, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

One of the more notable animes in the world today, it was already brushed-up a bit during a FA nomination. I don't think it's that far from FA...although I always say that. -Litefantastic 17:09, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I have yet to see any difference between COTW and AID. I thought I'd propose this article again here and see what happens and if nothing happens I'll send it to COTW. Ganymead 20:31, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
This was nominated on COTW, I nominated. It did not pass, not because it was not a stub, but simply because of lack of votes.--Dmcdevit 00:25, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Since this has previously nominated, should I delist it here and nominate it again for COTW? Ganymead 01:28, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

A lot of people are interested in magic. Yet this article fails to give a comprehensive view of the art's history. It also has no real bearing with a whole bunch of unrelated sections in a non-logical order. It needs loads of help. More than I can give on my own.
