Sir Stephen J. L. Wright KCMG (born 1946 in Quito) since May 2003 the UK Ambassador to Spain and the Principality of Andorra. He was educated at Shrewsbury School and Oxford University where he studied Modern History.

He previously worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, and has served in Washington DC, Brussels, New Dehli and New York. His first overseas post was to Havana.

He is married with four children, and enjoys music, opera, art, travel, rowing and horse-riding.
