Old World monkeys
Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Primates
Family: Cercopithecidae
Genera

The Old World monkeys (Cercopithecidae - "tailed apes") are found in most of Africa, southern Asia, and Gibraltar. They are distinct from the New World monkeys in having downward nostrils and non-prehensile tails, and from [[ape]s in having tails (though some Old World monkeys have been called apes).

Several Old World monkeys have anatomical oddities. The colobus has a stub for a thumb; the proboscis monkey has a big thing on its nose; and the male mandrill has a brightly colored face that resembles its penis.
