Soccer is a minor sport in Christmas Island.[1] Christmas Island is not a member of FIFA.

History

[edit]

The Christmas Island national football team has competed in the Inter-Island Cup.[2] In 2015, a Swiss side traveled to Christmas Island, where they played against the Christmas Island national team.[3]

There is a league, which contained four teams in 1994.[4] By 2014, there were five teams, with all games played at the High School Soccer Field in Flying Fish Cove.[5] There have been seven-a-side tournaments as well, with the 2016 edition won by Supa Strikers.[6]
