Kotli Sattian Tehsil

Kotli Sattian is a tehsil (subdivision) of Rawalpindi District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Its name is derived from the mountain town of Kotli and the Satti tribe.

Origins of name

In the past there was a bungalow of a Gakhar chief, that big house was called Kotli and then afterwards the town became known as Kotli too, the Satti tribe were loyal to Gakhars who were the rulers of this area.

There is another story about the name that there was a intelligent minister of king Ashok who was resident of this area and his name was Kotalia and Kotli is named after him.

Location

Kotli Sattian was a part of Kahuta tehsil before given the status of a separate tehsil. This part of the country is very beautiful especially Kamra.

Notable Places

In the village of Kamra there is a saint's tomb known as Sian TIKA Sarkar. Another famous place is Lehtrar.
