Setting aside the lack of citations, I wonder where the idea that they were especially popular in the '90s came from. Exchange diaries have been popular in Japan since at least the early 20th century (and, yes, I can provide citations for that), though today they may have been somewhat supplanted by email.

And surely there must be a similar phenomenon in the West...?Matt Thorn (talk) 06:55, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
