Twiztid is a hardcore hip hop/horrorcore rap group from Eastpointe, Michigan, formed in 1997. They are currently signed to Psychopathic Records.

Comrades of the Insane Clown Posse, this duo (previously of House of Krazees) base their act on a somewhat similar makeup image and what might be considered an obsession with serial-killer horror films. Jamie Madrox (James Spaniolo) and Monoxide (Paul Methric) cast themselves as the duo of Twiztid - and act as psychotic axe murderers on their 1998 debut album, Mostasteless (a contraction of "most tasteless") which was reissued with new artwork and extra tracks a year later in the wake of ICP's rise to national notoriety. Twiztid's second album, Freek Show, was released on Halloween 2000 in conjunction with ICP's Bizzar/Bizaar Sets; Mirror Mirror followed two years later.

The Green Book hit the shelves in 2003 with Man's Myth Vol. 1 and Mutant Vol. 2 both landing within a month of each other in 2005. The duo began dropping a bit of the more heavy makeup, but still toured extensively throughout the United States in the early 2000's, developing some degree of a cult following throughout the Midwest in particular.

History

Twiztid toured the nation with ICP, and they became inseparable. They recorded their first album, entitled Mostastelesspoop which quickly became a big hit. ICP signed to Island Records in 1998 and Twiztid went along with them. In 1999, Twiztid re-released Mostasteless with a few new tracks (and minus some old ones). Later that year, Twiztid, along with the Insane Clown Posse, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, and Myzery came together to create a new group, Psychopathic poop. After the release of Blaze's self titled album, his sales disappointed Psychopathic Records, and he was supposed to leave the record label. Twiztid was quoted as saying, "If he goes, we go," and Psychopathic, not willing to lose Twiztid, gave Blaze a second chance. Blaze subsequently went on Twiztid's Freek Show tour and his name became well known and his album sales increased as he said he was gay.

Their next album, Freekshow, was released in October 2000 to immediate Billboard chart success. Twiztid then headlined their own national tour, starting in 2000.

In 2002, Twiztid released their next album, an 11-song EP entitled Mirror/Mirror, as well as joining with Insane Clown Posse (ICP), Blaze Ya Dead Homie, and Marz to form the supergroup Dark Lotus. A year later Tales From The Lotus Pod was re-released with ABK replacing Marz on several tracks after Marz left the group. Around this time, Twiztid became involved in an intricate lawsuit with a previous manager over the rights to the House of Krazees back-catalogue. After spending a considerable amount of money, Twiztid finally secured the rights, and eventually made amends with their ex-bandmate from House Of Krazees, R.O.C., in 2003.

Twiztid released The Green Book, their most personal album to date, in July of 2003. At this time they asked R.O.C. to join their Green Book Tour as an opening act, which led to rumors that the House of Krazees might finally reunite after a six year breakup. These rumors were confirmed on Halloween of that year, as Twiztid and R.O.C. took to the stage together at the first annual Fright Fest in Worcester Massachusetts. Along with a mix of Twiztid and R.O.C. Solo songs, they performed many original HOK songs as well. Together, the trio reformed as a new group called Samhein Witch Killaz. They are scheduled to release their debut album Bloodletting on Halloween of 2007.

In May of 2004, Twiztid released the third volume of the Cryptic Collection series. While the other two albums featured rare songs, this album consisted of mostly new material as well as five remixes. Shortly thereafter, Monoxide began work on his first ever solo album and Twiztid began putting in work on the Second Annual Fright Fest.

In 2005 Twiztid released Man's Myth and Mutant, one month apart. Mans Myth was more or less Twiztid's normal sound, while Mutant was very experimental, including a more rock and roll style.

ICP have also announced that Twiztid are in talks of joining them on the Tempest World Tour.On feb 23rd it was confirmed that Twiztid would join the Insane Clown Posse on their tempest world tour.

January 5 2007, Twiztid has announced that their new album "Independent's Day" will be released July 3 2007. In regards to the album, each track will contain a guest, including Tech N9ne, the late Proof and Bizarre of D12, E-40, Too Short, Master P, Hed PE, ICP and more. Interesting to see that Proof and Bizarre are on a Psychopathic Records album with Twiztid considering their ties to Eminem in D12. Jamie Madrox stated at the 2006 Juggalo Gathering that Proof approached the ICP camp to squash the beef. Proof attended the 2005 Hallowicked show (annual Halloween show held by ICP) in Detroit to officially end it. And just for kicks, the D12 camp (minus Eminem) and Psychopathic Records crew ended the beef for good in a bowling match, with each team winning one game.
