The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) is a John Huston film in which down-and-outers (Humphrey Bogart) in Mexico (bothering director John Houston for money in fun opening cameo) hook up with old timer (director's father Walter Houston) to prospect for gold. The old-timer accurately predicts trouble but is willing to go anyway. the Treasure of the Sierra Madre was one of the first films to be shot almost entirely on location (though the night scenes were filmed back in the studio).

The film is the origin of the famous quotation "Badges? We aint got any badges. We don't need no badges. We don't have to show you any stinking badges!"
