Walter Dekalb Kelley, Jr.

The Honorable Walter Dekalb Kelley is a federal district judge on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia [1]. He graduated from Washington & Lee University in 1977, and from the University's School of Law in 1981. Following graduation, Judge Kelley served as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York City, and then was in private practice until his nomination to the bench in 2003.

In 2007, Judge Kelley was among several lawyers and jurists recommended by the Virginia Bar Association for two open Virginia seats on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. No one has yet been nominated for those posts [2].
