Yorkdale Shopping Centre is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in the former City of North York, and in the community of Downsview. The mall was opened in 1964 and was the first to include two major Canadian department stores, Simpson's and Eaton's, under the same roof. At the time of its opening, and for several years afterwards, it was the largest enclosed mall in the world. The mall is served by two expressways, W.R. Allen Road and Highway 401. The mall can also be reached through a turnaround ramp on Dufferin Street, south of Wilson Avenue. The TTC subway also has a station adjacent to the mall. Yorkdale endured a major overhaul in 1999, adding a Rainforest Cafe restaurant, a Famous Players Silver City movie theatre, and Indigo Books and Music.

It currently includes The Bay, Sears, Holt Renfrew, Sportchek, Indigo, and a cinema as its anchors. Yorkdale is currently expanding on the former site of its Eaton's department store and the former Famous Players cinema, which will increase the size to more than 1,600,000 square feet (145,000 m²) and increase the number of stores from about 210 to 260. It will add Old Navy, Zara, H&M, and Home Outfitters as anchors. This will give it the title of the second-largest mall in Ontario after Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga in terms of retail floor space, and ahead of Toronto Eaton Centre and Scarborough Town Centre.
