Heʻeia, Hawaii
He'eia is several neighborhoods located in the City & County of Honolulu and the Ko'olaupoko District on the Island of O'ahu that are essentially the north end of Kāne'ohe. He'eia includes Haiku Valley and He'eia Kea. As of the 2000 Census, the neighborhood had a total population of 4,944.
The area is entirely one of homes and a small number of apartments, without any commercial district, although He'eia lies adjacent to the Kāne'ohe commercial district. Parts of He'eia lie along Kāne'ohe Bay, but public access is limited owing to private ownership of the property behind the shore. Notable in the He'eia area are:
- Haiku Valley, a former U.S. Coast Guard radio transmitter site with the Stairway to Heaven hiking trail.
- He'eia Fishpond
He'eia Kea is a small, undeveloped valley separated from He'eia by He'eia Marsh and Kealohi Point. He'eia Kea Small Boat Harbor, the only public pier and boat ramp on Kāne'ohe Bay, is found here.
