The Nok civilization existed in west Africa, beginning around 500 B.C.

Little is known about the Nok. The word Nok itself is a modern invention, the name of the Nigerian town in which, in 1928, the civilization's remains were first discovered.

NOK is also an abbreviation for the Norwegian krone.
