Britain's Next Top Model is a UK reality television show that is broadcast on LIVINGtv. It is based on the same concept as America's Next Top Model.
The second cycle has finished being shown on Mondays at 9pm. Hosted by supermodel Lisa Snowdon, In March 2006 it was announced that Lisa Snowdon would be replacing Lisa Butcher as presenter for the second series[citation needed]. The prize for winning Britain's Next Top Model Cycle 2 was a modelling contract with Models 1, one of Europe's leading modelling agencies who have signed Twiggy and Lisa Butcher[citation needed].
Other prizes included appearing in a new campaign for Ford Fiesta (also was able to keep the car) and a 6 page fashion spread in Company magazine as well as getting to appear on the front cover.
In each episode, the programme's panel of judges - Jonathan Phang, Marie Helvin (Cycle 1) and Paula Hamilton (Cycle 2), plus a guest judge - assess task performance and potential. After each critique, one girl is eliminated and sent home.
Format
Each season of Top Model has from ten to fourteen episodes and starts with ten to fourteen contestants. Generally, one contestant is eliminated per episode by consensus of the judging panel. Makeovers are administered to contestants early in the season, and a trip to an international destination is scheduled at about two-thirds' way through the season.
Each episode of Top Model, covering the events of roughly a week of real time, features a fashion challenge, photo shoot or commercial, judging, and critique of each contestant and her performance by the panel of judges, and the elimination of [usually] one contestant. Each episode is usually associated with a theme in the world of modeling, such as dealing with the press in interviews, selling a commercial product, or appearing in a runway show.
