Demetris Nichols (born September 4, 1984) former small forward for the Syracuse Orange basketball team. Known for his accurate shooting[1], Nichols is considered a possible second round pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. [2]
College
As a freshman in 2003-2004, Nichols averaged 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He averaged 3.9 points and 2.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore. During his junior year, Nichols' minutes jumped from 12.9 to 33.3 per game, and he averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 rebounds. As a senior, Nichols led the team with 18.9 points per game, and also averaged 5.4 rebounds. For his play that year, he was discussed as a possible Big East player of the year, and ended up being selected as a unanimous decision to the All Big East Team. He was also selected to the three point shooting contest, and finished second to Aaron Brooks.
Team USA
- Nichols was invited to try out for the 2004 USA Basketball World Championship For Young Men’s Qualifying Team. He participated in the first round of July workouts, but didn't qualify.[3]
- Nichols was a member of the 2002 USA Development Festival East Team that finished 3-2 and earned the silver medal. He averaged 14.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in five games.[4]

- He was a three-time Street & Smith’s Magazine Honorable Mention All-American
- Nichols was a third-team Parade All-America in 2003…He helped his club to the New England Prep School Athletic Conference title, tallying 15 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game against Lawrence Academy
- Nichols averaged 18.6 points and 8.9 rebounds a game and St. Andrew’s finished 28-8
- He was named 2003 Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year and EA Sports Roundball Game All-American [5]
