Ljudski vrt
Stadion Ljudski Vrt is a multi-use stadium in Maribor, Slovenia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of NK Maribor. The stadium has 10.160 seats. It received its name after the public park of Maribor (Volksgarten) which was planted in 1873. The park was later turned into a practice range and in 1920 the first football field was built upon it. The meaning of "Ljudski vrt" is "People's Garden".
Current football field was built in 1952. The grass was replanted in 1994 and 2000 with the flooding system built in 2000. The elevation of the stadion is at 274,5 m. The covered tribune in Ljudski Vrt was built in 1962. It is an arch like structure with a central height of 18,4 m and a length of 129,8 m.
Currently the stadium is being rebuilt. The former stand will be given a roof and the capacity will be increased to a total of 13.000 seats.
Recent changes
In 1994 wooden benches were replaced by plastic seats, in 1999 the lounge for the press was rebuilt and currently the covered tribune with the lounge can accommodate up to 4500 people. In 1998 the plastic seats were built in the standing tribunes surrounding the football field as well. In 1999 the capacity of the stadion was increased to 10030 seats. The number is however reduced for UEFA matches.
In 1994 the stadion received reflectors. On 4 concrete towers, strategically placed on the corners of the stadion, 216 reflectors are placed, which allow for playing matches during the evening.
