Characters

The main characters in the series are Massie Block, Claire Lyons, Alicia Rivera, Dylan Marvil, and Kristen Gregory. Below is a short description of each character:

Massie Block
Described as very pretty, with glossy brown long hair, amber eyes, and a laser-whitened smile. She is mostly known as the leader of the infamous "Pretty Committee", the most popular clique that rules OCD. Massie's strong points are her charisma and wit. Her crush and boyfriend is Derrick Harrington (or Derrington, as Massie secretly calls him). Massie throughout each and every book, goes through life-long adventures (more like middle school drama) while struggling to keep her Alpha status, and look cool while doing it. Her one flaw is she is a bad actress.
Claire Lyons
A girl who has a Florida tan, blonde hair with bangs, blue eyes, wears Keds, and is from Orlando, Florida. Although she starts off as a clueless, sweet fashion victim her personality undergoes some changes. The cruel treatment by the Clique causes her to mature, and Claire's backbone begins to show - as well as some imperfections. She temporarily abandons her friend Layne for the chance to become part of the Pretty Committee. She does, eventually, become a part of the Pretty Committee. She has an on and off relationship with Cam Fisher, a star soccer player at Briarwood Academy. Later in the series, Claire explores the world of a professional actress in movies such as Dial L for Loser. But she eventually turns down the offer because she didn't want to leave her friends or boyfriend behind. She is the kindest in the series.
Alicia Rivera
Described as the "Spanish Beauty" of The Clique. She is Massie's second-in-command and she knows where to get reliable gossip sources. She hates running, has impossibly glossy dark hair and has huge boobs (C cup). She has a crush on Josh Hotz. She also has all of the gossip and loves to spread it around. Massie later threatens to reveal that Alicia's father changed their last name from Rivers to a more "Spanish sounding" Rivera. Massie, despite being her best friend, always becomes a little frightened at the very-true fact that any day Alicia could take over Massie's leader position. Alicia went to Hollywood but didn't get the role of Molly. She was better than Massie, though.
Kristen Gregory
The best female athlete in the school. Although she pretends to be rich, it is revealed in the first book that her art-dealer father lost all his money a few years before and she is on scholarship at OCD. However, Massie, Alicia, and Dylan do not find this out until the third book, because of a plot by Claire (although Claire was able to keep the secret). Her parents are quite strict. Kristen is undeniably intelligent and perpetually obsessing over her grades because if she fails, she will be kicked out of Octavian County Day School. But the Clique stays as awesome true friends, they stand beside Kristen with her broke situation and always offer clothes and cash. She finds hersefl relating to Claire as they are the only ones who get punished by their parents.
Dylan Marvil
Described as the red-head with emerald green eyes who is taller and wider then the other girls with fluctuating weight. She is constantly on various strange diets but somehow, they never work out. At one point she was happy but she went back dieting. Her mom is talk show host Merri-Lee Marvil from 'The Daily Grind', who is quite famous in the show business.

Secondary characters

Layne Abeley
Claire's friend with small green eyes and strawlike blonde hair who is constantly on the fringe of popularity and is very avant-garde. She likes alternative music, dresses radically, holds protests, and is viewed with disgust by the everyone in the Clique except Claire. Layne's brother, Chris Abeley, was the one-time crush of Massie Block, thus making Massie pretend to be friends with Layne but their "friendship" ended after a few weeks. It is revealed that Chris only liked Massie as a friend and already had a "disgustingly beautiful girlfriend", Fawn. In each book, she is obsessed with a different kind of food, for example, oatmeal, popcorn with mustard, popsicles, Go-Gurts or Crystal Lite. She has two other best friends (besides Claire) named Heather and Meena, who "share her love of protests". In the third book, "Revenge of the Wannabes" and seventh book "It's Not Easy Being Mean" she wears headgear.
Olivia Ryan (a.k.a. Faux-livia and Duh-livia)
Olivia befriends Alicia and they plan to make their own clique with Dylan and Kristen wannabes but it doesn't work. She is one of the prettiest girls at OCD next to the Pretty Committee but is more of an all-American beauty than an exotic Spanish beauty like Alicia. She is known for her nose job, her beautiful 'buttery' blonde hair and big navy blue eyes. In the third novel, Alicia dubs her Faux-livia because everything she owns is fake such as her faux-fur poncho or her fake Louis Vuitton scarf. The Pretty Committee does not like her and you rarely hear about her much after the Teen People photo shoot. She is mentioned a few times in "It's Not Easy Being Mean" as Duh-livia.
Cam Fisher
Cam is the cute younger brother of Harris Fisher, a popular 11th grader in Briarwood Academy, an all-boys school. Cam has one blue eye and one green eye and likes to wear a beat-up leather jacket and Drakkar Noir. Massie has a crush on Cam throughout the second and third books, but it turns out he likes Claire. He tries to spend time with Claire but she is always with Massie. Soon, Massie finds out about Cam and Claire, and after much dispute, she approves of their relationship. They exchanged e-mails and he gives Claire bags of gummies or CDs through her younger brother, Todd. These notes are often called "C-Notes". In The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, Cam and Claire share their first kiss.
Nina Callas
The cruel, but beautiful and big-chested, Spanish cousin of Alicia, who is revealed to be a thief. Known to be "Obscena" (Layne made some posters rebelling against Nina in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers) she tries to steal Massie's, Claire's and Alicia's crushes/boyfriends. She claims to have told Cam and Derrington about a Spanish soccer spell that involves them not talking to their crushes. In Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, Alicia's cousin Nina draws in all of the boys (including Cam) and tricks The Pretty Committee into thinking the boys didn't like them. Thinking Cam has dumped her, Claire kisses Josh Hotz, but they make up in The Pretty Committee Strikes Back with their first kiss. Nina is only featured in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers but is mentioned briefly in several of the other novels.
Derrick Harrington (a.k.a Derrington)
Massie's boyfriend with shaggy blonde hair and brown eyes, and a similarity to a golden retriever. Derrington is the goalie on Briarwood's soccer team and loves shaking his bare butt, his trademark move. He only wears shorts, even in the winter. At first he was Kristen and Dylan's crush in Best Friends for Never, but their crush stops when Alicia reveals that he was hoping to get closer to Massie. He's supposedly the most popular boy at Briarwood Academy and calls his girlfriend, Massie, by her last name, Block. You also find in the seventh book that his bedroom is a total mess (literally), but he is willing to straighten it up for Massie. The first time he wore pants was in book 6, because it was very cold.
In the fourth book, Nina tricks Massie into thinking that Derrington likes her, not Massie. After a big soccer game, Massie and Derrington talk and Massie finds out Nina told all the boys she cast a "Spanish soccer spell" and for good luck in soccer, they couldn't talk to their girlfriends. Derrington gives Massie the Cupid Award that he won, knowing Massie really had wanted to win it. Massie gives Derrington an "M" pin because he had wanted an MVP pin, saying, "It's much cuter than those boring silver ones your coach gives out." He promises he would wear it forever.
In The Pretty Committee Strikes Back Massie lies to the girls in her grade and says that she and Derrington have kissed many times. The M.U.C.K girls (Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing) talk about it and Derrington hears, thinking Massie has been kissing someone else because she never kisses him. He crushes her M pin in the dirt, but afterwards, Massie kisses him to prove to the M.U.C.K girls that she wasn't a lip virgin and they make up.
Josh Hotz
Alicia Rivera's crush from Hotchkiss who was expelled for pulling the fire alarm before a major test. He is on the soccer team and is described to be a preppy Ralph Lauren lover with dark hair and thick eyelashes. In Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, Nina uses his locker as a place to store her stolen goods. He kissed Claire, who thought Josh didn't like Alicia and was upset with the thought that Cam didn't like her anymore. Josh has brown hair and brown eyes, and is said that he looks just like Alicia, only male.
In the fifth book, Josh flirts with Claire and compliments her, not getting the hint that Claire doesn't like him. Alicia catches on to his crush on her and finds out about their kiss. Alicia decides to get back at Claire by trying to steal Cam from her. In the end of the The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, when the girls are lost, Claire and Alicia put aside what happened and decide to start over. Also, in Dial L for Loser, he shows that he does like Alicia back by giving her daisies (along with Derrington who gives his to Massie).
Chris Plovert
A boy on crutches who is also on the soccer team. Dylan likes him, but he likes Olivia. Dylan went to the Lovestruck Dance with him in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers and tried to kiss him, in order to win a bet with Kristen.
Abby Boyd
One of the two hottest teen actresses in Dial L for Loser and Massie's hair muse (though Massie finds out that Abby cut her hair and dyed it blonde later on). The other is Hadley Durk. Abby stole Hadley's first boyfriend, and they didn't speak to each other for a year. When they finally decide to make up and work together on a movie, it turns disastrous when they go on Dylan's mom's talk show, The Daily Grind. Hadley finds out that Abby stole her boyfriend, Gabor, again, while the Pretty Committee is there meeting the two stars and watching the taping of the show. Hadley quits the production and the director needs to find a replacement. Claire is chosen as Hadley's replacement, and she co-stars with Abby in the movie, Dial L for Loser. She turns out to become a MBF (Movie Best Friends) of Abby and when Claire tries to be friends with Abby after filming is done, Abby replies that she only was friends with her because they were co-stars; but now, their friendship is over.
Is described as 'pathological' by Kristen in response to finding out that Abby stole Hadley's boyfriend again. Abby only shows up in the sixth book.
Hadley Durke
The other hottest teen actress (besides Abby) that sadly keeps getting her boyfriends stolen from her by Abby Boyd. Wears her hair in her signature Pocahontas braids and has white Dentyne-Ice shaped teeth. Makes up with Abby after having Abby steal her boyfriend from her, though it is a big mistake when she finds out that Abby stole her boyfriend, Gabor, just like last time. Gets tomato sauce poured on her by Abby and quits the movie, Dial L for Loser, all in the sixth book, Dial L for Loser, which is the only book she appears in. She describes anything she thinks is so cool as "effing genius!"
Conner Foley
Described as the teen-dream, Conner Foley is the hottest teen actor in the country, with black spiked hair, green eyes, and the tiniest hint of stubble on his chin. He and Abby Boyd secretly date one another while working together on the set of their movie, Dial L for Loser. He uses Claire, Massie, and Alicia to try and make Abby jealous. Claire is accused of liking Conner by Cam when Massie sends him a picture of Conner and Claire kissing during a kissing scene in the movie. Conner is an underwear model for Hugo Boss and gets a new pair of specially designed CF jeans each time he stars in a movie. He only appears in Dial L for Loser. He refers to every girl he talks to as "babygirl."
Nurse Adele
Although not as important to other girls in OCD, Nurse Adele provides comfort and hope for Claire when she needs it. Claire first meets Nurse Adele when Alicia puts a streak of red paint on Claire's pants. Nurse Adele always gives Claire extra clothes that are so last season" that none of the other girls would be caught dead in. Nurse Adele is down-to-earth and cares about the welfare of her students. She also gives giant Hershey kisses from the Get-Well-Closet.
Bean
Bean is Massie's precious black Pug pup, who adores Massie like everyone else.
Principal Burns
Principal Burns is the female principal at OCD. Principal Burns is said to have "birdlike features" and people make "bird noises" when in her presence.
Skye Hamilton
She is the Alpha in eighth grade at OCD and the leader of the DSL Daters. She is in the book It's Not Easy Being Mean. She hides a key to a secret room in OCD and the person who finds the key becomes the alpha. This idea gets Massie worried because she is afraid an LBR will become the new alpha. Skye has "kissed" almost every boy ever mentioned in the books which causes the girls to worry about their crushes. She is suppose to have "Tiffany Box" blue eyes, light blonde hair, a raspy voice and mark above her philitrum.
Carrie Randolph
A major LBR who is a MUCK member who talks very fast, she is best friends with Livvy Collins and Alexander Regan. She is suppose to have blonde curls and "saucer-shaped" brown eyes. Carrie wants to learn how to kiss like her friends. She brought Claire's pink poka dotted scarf in the 7th book.
Alexander Regan
Another LBR MUCK member who has braces. Her mother has a black Audis. She has a hawk nose and cat liked green eyes and straight brown hair. In book 5 her braces were green. Her friends are Livvy Collins and Carrie Randolph.
Livvy Collins
An LBR and MUCK member who eats lip-gloss. Has fugly hazel-eyes. She is very LBRish to the PC and loves lip-gloss! She wants to learn how to kiss and is always cracking odd jokes.
