Brad W. Foster is a five-time winner of the Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist, the most prestigious awards in science fiction and fantasy. Of other Hugo nominees, only Tim Kirk has won the award as many times as Foster has. He has also won the Chesley Award Chesley Awardin 1988, from the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists.

Born in 1955 in San Antonio, TX. A 1977 graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Environmental Design. He continued his studies, concentrating in fine art, for two more years at the University of Texas at Austin.

Wrote and drew the comicbook "Mechthings", four issues of which were published in 1987 - 1988 by Renegade Press.

He was the "Big-Background Artist on "Shadowhawk" comics, created by Jim Valentino and published by Image Comics. That odd credit refers to the fact that he would both pencil and ink in the larger and more detailed background designs only on select panels and pages.
