Pretty Crane is a fictional character on the American soap opera Passions. According to a recent issue of TV Guide magazine, Melinda Sward will debut as Pretty on July 30, 2007.

Character history

Pretty is the youngest daughter and middle child of socialites Julian Crane and Ivy Winthrop and granddaughter of the late billionaire Alistair Crane. As a child, she was sent away to boarding school as her father did not want to be bothered with raising children and her mother focused only on her oldest child, Ethan, her son from an adulterous affair with "true love" Sam Bennett.

Until 2007, Pretty was described as having a normal relationship with all of her siblings, including her sister, Fancy. Prior to 2005, the two were said to be vacationing in Italy, where Pretty fell in love with a nobleman and Fancy, bored, left for Las Vegas; in December of 2005, their mother recalled Fancy's thirteenth birthday party, when the two girls conspired to steal the caterer's van.

In 2007, however, it was revealed that something happened between Fancy and Pretty so serious that Pretty has never returned to Harmony and that has left Fancy near hyperventilation at the mention of her sister's name. The girls' aunt, Sheridan, has implied that Fancy violently and vindictively attacked her younger sister, though it is unclear if Sheridan is telling the truth or is merely distorting the facts to make Fancy appear bad in front of Luis. Sheridan has claimed that, one Labor Day, the Cranes went on an outing on Alistair's yacht, and that Pretty brought as her date a boy with whom Fancy had been infatuated all summer. Sheridan went on to claim that Fancy pretended to sprain her ankle in order to steal the boy away from Pretty, and that, once she knew that the boy was hers, she dumped him a week later, leaving Pretty heart-broken. Fancy protested that the scenario occurred as Sheridan stated, but she never specified her own side of the story.

Though the general public is not aware of what occurred between Fancy and Pretty, all of the Cranes seem to be well-aware of the details. Julian and Ivy have hinted that Pretty might have been disfigured, somehow; while talking, one mentioned how beautiful Pretty used to be, and the other replied, "Let's not dwell on that". On July 30th, Pretty Crane will arrive in Harmony to either stop or save Fancy's wedding to Luis. Pretty is also disinherited from Crane.
