Welcome

Hello David, and welcome to Wikipedia! Nice work on People's Republic of China's trademark law. If you need help at any time, Wikipedia:Help and The Wikipedia:FAQs are there for you. And, you can always ask a question at the Wikipedia:Village pump. Cheers! -- Stephen Gilbert 13:19 Apr 17, 2003 (UTC)

Nice work on Rottnest Island, David. Seeing as I seem to be working on Australian mammals today, I'll see if I can't give you a species account for the Quokka to go with it shortly. Cheers -- Tannin 13:59 Apr 25, 2003 (UTC)

My pleasure, David. :)

Kansai images

Hey David, I got a couple more image from the Kansai area but need to pick the best ones first and do some color corrections to make up for the rather gray sky in the background :(. Give me some time and I eventually get them up on wikipedia.
cheers, --synthetik 14:21 May 5, 2003 (UTC)

entertainment law

David, I've done some editing on entertainment law please feel free to change anything, it is done in the spirit of cooperative evolutionary editing. Also if you think someone might be using a page as a substitute for legal advice you might want to link to (or even modify):

'''Please note: [[Wikipedia:Legal advice|Wikipedia does not give legal advice]].'''

And, while I am making suggestions if you know anything about fair dealing take a quick look at that page when you can, I put some stuff in about fd under Canadian and English law and a comment about the © of laws/cases which may not be accurate under Australian law — I am assuming it is similar to Canadian Crown copyright in this regard. Finally, it was suggested that we should add new legal topic pages to list of legal topics so that we don't have to keep all the legal articles on the watch list, but still see what changes are being made. Good show on personality rights. Alex756 22:22 May 12, 2003 (UTC)

David, I saw you removed that parenthetic comment under Australian law under fair dealing there was some discussion about these comments (that is really one of many) on the talk page there, BTW do you know that you can pop your user name in here just by typing three or four tilde characters like this: ~~~ with only three of them your just get your user name, with four there is also a timestamp. I haven't met your friend, but I have heard of his film Tai Tai there is a very active film community here in NYC and lots of activities (like the Independent Feature Project, quite a few filmmaker associations,, etc) and a few well known film festivals like the Tribeca Film Festival, it's a fairly large community. Alex756
I always take a look at the talk page (if it is not highlighted in red (default color scheme) that means someone has posted something on the talk page which may be useful before editing. Sometimes there is material that has been dumped on the talk page that can be merged into the main page, Ive done that myself from the 1911 Encyclopedia on Talk:real property, nice start on chain of title I added a link to a guide to title searching at the U.S.C.O.. Hello. You implicitly asked me to expand upon my misgivings about your grammar and style in your citizen's arrest article. You said a citizen's arrest can be done for

  • a public offence committed, etc., etc., ...
  • when a felony, etc., etc., ...

Such an arrest can be done "for when a felony has been committed"? Do you see nothing wrong with "for when"? And I think it is widely and for good reason held to be bad style to define things by saying "X is when blah blah happens." Michael Hardy 21:55 23 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Hello! I have some publications by Hong Kong Government before 1990. Could I copy its content onto Wikipedia? wshun 17:58 24 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Hi, I read that you need some help sizing up some images, I can do it with Photoshop if you like. - Hephaestos 05:14, 29 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Sure, email would be fine. The address is in my user page. - Hephaestos 06:29, 29 Jul 2003 (UTC)

--- David, I'm a bit confused, I found a page you started called collective trade marks and another called collective marks. Do we really need this as two pages, the content seems duplicative, perhaps it was just a mistake. Also it might be a good idea to do a redirect from one to the other, and from the singular form, and for the US version of the term collective trademarks and collective servicemarks, no? Also, congratulations on your daughter's birth. Alex756 03:42, 17 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Hi David, interresting image you posted on Wikipedia:Brilliant pictures. Just a question: Could you add more information on the copyright status on this File:Vacation Photo 022503.jpg page? Was it taken by you? Then it should be changed to the first section in Wikipedia:Brilliant pictures. And, if you have the time, could you also update Wikipedia:Brilliant pictures visible. Thanks a lot, Fantasy 08:32, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC) PS: Do you have also the larger version?

You damn dirty JLApe! ;-)

List of jurists

David, nice start on list of jurists. There has been a discussion on several of the Wikipedia mailing lists about changing the edit page text. Mav (a developer) made a proposal and I've also put up a page with a proposal that he wants to implement here. I don't know how you feel about it, but perhaps you can take a look at it and make some suggestions on the talk page with all the necessary disclaimers (this is not legal advice, etc. etc.), or just email me, I've asked them to wait a few days before implementing any proposals. David thanks for your comment regarding the disclaimer. Do you really think it is necesary to put to your knowledge, information and belief that is standard boilerplate language here in the States, but I know keeping the text short and to the point is wanted, I've already gotten several complaints about legalese, formal language, etc. I put in to your knowledge on my modified version (1.1). I don't know if they can put anything above the edit box. At this point it is just pasting a text into the php script, it won't need any format codes. Actually I was thinking of a new checkbox for the affirmation to let it stand out, like on the image upload page (I think one of our predecessors got them to do that probably user:isis who has vapourized! Any more input you can give will be greatly appreciated. Alex756 08:53, 8 Sep 2003 (UTC)

David, the upload file page has a checkbox. I think getting someone to do that extra step shows that they acknowledge it, makes it more like a click through license (which would be the best, but that is definitely too legalistic for Wikipedia). Maybe the problem with that will be the buffering, because if you don't check it then you get a warning (you can't actually upload without checking that box). It makes it a little less automatic.
