Rune for Mac OS X

I have not found a source claiming that there was a release of Rune (computer game) for Mac OS X, only a petition in the official forums for one because there is none, thus I have removed the category that you added. -- Darklock 08:36, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

As a tracing, it seems to violate WP:FUC, criteria 4 and 10. It's also been obsoleted by two free images (criteria 1). I was clearly a too tired when I IfD'd it. If you agree to the deletion, I can just get it over with; otherwise, there's 48 hours until it will be deleted unless the problems are somehow corrected. -- Consumed Crustacean (talk) 15:56, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, that should have gone into the nomination. No need to explain it here. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 22:36, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
The uploader has to be notified before an image is deleted by the FUC criteria; the 48 hours starts following that. I wanted to get this image out before the rather persistant anony who has been readding it has a chance to do so again. -- Consumed Crustacean (talk) 02:02, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Your RfA

I am sorry to inform you that your Request for Adminship (RfA) has failed to reach sufficient consensus for promotion, and has now been delisted and archived. Please do not look upon this outcome as a discouragement, but rather as an opportunity to improve. Try to address the concerns raised during your RfA and, in a few months' time, resubmit your request. Thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity! Redux 01:54, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Parameter "released" in Template:Infobox Software

Hi CyberSkull,
What is the parameter "released" in the Template:Infobox Software for? Do you use it anywhere? --- Best regards, Melancholie 21:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

For the initial release of the software. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 22:19, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Your image for it is opaque itself. You really should either make it transparent or use the other icon. It makes Wikipedia kinda look stupid. 216.40.239.144 22:50, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

The image is actually using a gradient background, the bottom right corner area is completely transparent. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 22:52, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, but the other corners aren't. You see a white square around it on the template. 216.40.239.144 22:54, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
The gradient starts in the upper-left corner with a full opacity and ends in the lower-right corner with transparency. If you can't see it, stop using Internet Explorer. WikiMedia renders SVGs as PNG-24 files, something which IE has not had proper support for in the last 6 or so years. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 22:58, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
FYI, I'm using Firefox. And yes, I see that the top left isn't and the bottom right is. What is the point of this exactly? 216.40.239.144 23:01, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Aside from the irony, it's an illustration of why we should avoid certain types of images with opaque backgrounds. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 23:16, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
(I'm the same person as before, but with a different IP) Oh, ok. Now I get it. Sorry to bother you. 207.218.205.228 00:08, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article list of online music databases, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:list of online music databases. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. -- intgr 17:29, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Since you were the one who uploaded the Frostwire logo, I thought I should ask your opinion on this before I did anything. Apparently, in a future release (perhaps the soon-to-come one), Frostwire is going to be using a new logo, less like Limewire's. The website already uses it, and the CVS on sourceforge includes it, at least in the Windows version. (Basically, it's a crystal-type blue circle with white stylized barbed wire on top of it.) Do you think this image should be uploaded now, or wait until it's officially released? (I can't find it in the CVS again, but here's the site version.) — SheeEttin {T/C} 23:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Font infobox

Hi Cyberskull. I've been working with 6 other wikipedians to evolve a relatively standard format, and new infobox for typeface/font illustrations. The larger primary specimen, designed to give a flavor/feeling of the font is designed to go at top, then infobox call-out information, and then if there is an ancillary illustration, at the bottom. Hi . I am having a doozy of a time entering theme music composer to the television infobox. I tried to add it on the syntax section of template:infobox television and my edit did not result in the addition of theme music composer. Any tips? Thanks. Dogru144 14:06, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Wanted to let you know i did this - looks like you put some time into it (or maybe not - at least it would require me a lot of time) - so maybe you disagree with removing that piece of information and prefer to fix it instead (it's currently faulty in some way)… --elias.hc 23:03, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Jared.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Jared.png. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kcossack 00:38, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Bunny avatars

Hello, I was browsing through Category:Image copyright tags and noticed that Template:Bunny avatars was transcluded/linked only to Image:Bunny plain.jpg. It seems unnecessary to have a template for one usage, and the template has been around for quite a while, so I went ahead and substituted the template and then deleted it as cleanup. Let me know if you were planning to restart usage of the template and I'd be happy to unarchive it. Thanks, BanyanTree 16:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Template:Filesystem Infobox

Fair use rationale for Image:Weird Worlds Return to Infinite Space.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Weird Worlds Return to Infinite Space.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 00:08, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

interwiki

Interwiki links for the computer and video game by year categories are handled by {cvg year interwiki}

They won't be, simply because the interwiki software (pywikipediabot) does not support such functionality. If you insist on using a template that is incompatible with the rest of the system, you have to deal with the consequences by hand. tsca @ 12:05, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
The template accepts the year as a parameter and inserts it into the link where appropriate. I'm just asking for the bots to ignore those categories and have the users update the templates. All of the CVG year categories use the template, so one edit updates them all. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 14:00, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Webcomics

I asked recently whether anyone would mind if we made the webcomics a task force of the comics wikiproject, sort of mirroring the military history wikiproject set up. Corbinian of Freising

To avoid a revert war, I wanted to explain why I had the two separate galleries on Corbinian. This is because the first eight pictures are of a definite series, while the section below that would deal with other artistic renderings (provided I find any in the future; more than the single one that is presently there). I'll wait until you respond to revert it; as far as I know I may be in some violation of convention for galleries. Thanks for your attention. Alekjds TALK 06:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Punycode

On Talk:We_Love_Katamari, you mentioned some browsers render unicode as punycode. You should note that, first of all, this is only inside the URL bar, not the titlebar or in html content, and, second, this is only in the domain name, not the rest of the url. Punycode is exclusively a DNS standard and is not related to HTML or to aspects of URLs not related to domain names. --—Random8322007-01-23T22:08:19UTC(01/23 17:08EST) PS see also IDN homograph attack 22:09, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Paranoia_Agent_Original_Soundtrack.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Paranoia_Agent_Original_Soundtrack.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:59, 4 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sandstein 12:59, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello; I saw your change to this template and wanted to ask you about it.

First off, I'm not very good with templates and apologize if, during the merge, I did something to break that template.

However, your attempt to fix that template does not seem to take into account that it has been merged and no longer applies soely to computer and video games.

It now categorizes all games, be they computer and video or board or card or whathaveyou, as computer and video games.

Since I obviously must have broken it in some way when I tried to fix that fact before, would you please fix it so that it does not automatically add all images tagged with it into a category that they may not belong to? Thank you. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 19:29, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Excuse me, Cyberskull. But you seem to be somewhat of an authority figure in the WikiProject Zelda arena. Well, it may have or may not have reached your attention, but a fellow by the name of A Link to the Past and I have been feuding about the merit of a Dark/Shadow Link page. I think there is enough relevent and non-speculatory information to make a page and he disagrees on the grounds that he does not beleive that that various Dark Links to be related. Now, I'm not here to whine to you, I'm just wondering how I may be able to get other project members involved. I only have one person other than us who has voiced an oppinion. I'd greatly appreciate it if you would post a reply on my userpage about this and put your oppinion in the battle that is ensuing in the talk page on the project page. and you can by all means and authorities delete this when you are done reading it. Image:Castlevania-Portrait of Ruin Characters.jpg

Hello, I was the user who uploaded the image listed above "Link to image". I noticed that the copyright tags were switched to "DSscreenshot" and the "badJPEG" tag was added as well. I was curious as to the reasoning to this as the image is not a screenshot. It was taken from the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Art Collection, which was included in the pre-order bonus for Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. While promotional material may not have been the best licensing tag, it was the one that seemed to fit the best to me at the time. It is however not a "screenshot", more than likely it would fall under "character artwork". Also, what aspect of the image would require it to be in PNG or SVG format. If need be I can rescan the image as a PNG, but I did not see any reason to to begin with so that's why it was in JPEG format. (Guyinblack25 21:29, 5 March 2007 (UTC))

Oh, I thought I reverted that change. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 22:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Webcomic assessment restart?

In recent months the webcomic project seems to have become a place that mainly discusses AfDs, while the assessment process seems to have come to a standstill. Am I wrong in seeing it this way, and what could be done to make the situation better? (I recently changed the El Goonish Shive article a lot after the AfD, but I got no feedback on that, so I'm not even sure I made the correct changes) Ambi Valent 00:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm guessing if no one comments, then either no one objects or no one notices (or cares) about the changes you make. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 01:07, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
I rather wanted to know whether it's only the article that doesn't get noticed by assessment team members, or whether the assessment team has gone home altogether. Ambi Valent 01:16, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Basically, I'd like to know if the EGS article could reach B-class Low-importance with a little more editing? Questionable Content got that assessment. Ambi Valent 01:57, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
There are some other webcomic articles I might work on or start, but in the current climate that might trigger deletion attempts. At least that's how it happened with the EGS article, so in the moment I try to improve it to a point where it is safe. Ambi Valent 08:35, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Walking about Onett.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Walking about Onett.png.

If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --- RockMFR 05:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Jaikoz, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. intgr 19:59, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey CyberSkull. I'm sieving through shared IP addresses and related templates. Do you need Template:IP De Anza anymore? --Iamunknown 03:26, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Image:Adobe Illustrator CS2 icon.png

I have tagged Image:Adobe Illustrator CS2 icon.png as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Hi. We played a bit with the Template:Future game in order to make it suitable for non-video games as well, but I must admit I missed the original intent of the parameters. As result, the template (I believe) still works as before for video game articles that use it, but the categorization and sorting don't appear to match the documentation. Could you please fix the template and/or its usage to reflect the real usage? Honestly, I got lost on how the parameters were supposed to be used. (See also the template's talk page). The interwiki links for the video games by year categories en:Category:2025 video games for example) are handled by the en:Template:cvg year interwiki. Any changes to the categorization should be made there. CyberSkulll 11 mai 2007 à 09:06 (CEST)

Please remove them from the template, en: is the last wiki trying todo it in this way but it can't work 1) bot can't handle them in an automated 2) many interwiki are de facto broken, e.g. in en:Category:1971 video games and you can't fix them. 3) many iw are actually duplicated (en:Category:1974 video games). Hello, CyberSkull. An automated process has found and will an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that is in your userspace. The image (Image:MusicBrainz favicon.png) was found at the following location: User:CyberSkull. This image or media will be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. This does not necessarily mean that the image is being deleted, or that the image is being removed from other pages. It is only being removed from the page mentioned above. All mainspace instances of this image will not be affected Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. Hi, I noticed that you removed the "comictype" parameter from the comic strip infobox. Is there a particular problem with this parameter? I added it to help resolve links to Syndication as listed on Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links, and after the links having been resolved, I see all of them back now because of the removal of this parameter - around 193 pages (as listed) currently link to the disambiguation page which shouldn't, and the great majority come from the template. Thanks, Nihiltres(t.c.s) 15:33, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

The Syndication parameter is for all types of syndication, limiting it actually breaks the usage. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 21:40, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
It was breaking? How so? Nihiltres(t.c.s) 03:24, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Regarding metal-archives.com

Encyplopedia Metallum meets the following criteria under "Links normally to be avoided" (quoted directly from WP:EL)

1. Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article.

2. Any site that misleads the reader by use of factually inaccurate material or unverifiable research. See Reliable sources for explanations of the terms "factually inaccurate material" or "unverifiable research".

12. Links to open wikis, except those with a substantial history of stability and a substantial number of editors.

There are plenty of other websites that are reliable that could be linked to instead that could provide all the information users claim can only be found on the user-edited Encyclopedia Metallum. I'm amazed how many people consider this website more reliable than the official website of a band. --Leon Sword 17:55, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:MusicBrainz homepage.png

Thanks for uploading Image:MusicBrainz homepage.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Leon Sword 03:28, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:MusicBrainz homepage.png

Thanks for uploading Image:MusicBrainz homepage.png.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:28, 22 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Leon Sword 03:28, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Safari RSS.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Safari RSS.png. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 13:28, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Fixed. — Deckiller 00:33, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, for the in universe debate is about the templates, not about categorization. Regardless of the outcome of that discussion we should keep things in the appropriate subcategories. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 00:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
I noticed you making these edits on a couple articles, and I would like to say I agree that at least for the time being it makes no sense to change it. All its going to do is generate extra work for the person who has to delete the templates when and if they are deleted or consolidated. The discussion won't likely go on for more than a day or two anyway so I see no harm in waiting until then. The categorization debate doesn't really apply since it is more or less reliant on the individual templates to be utilized.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 17:17, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Maelstrom icon.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Maelstrom icon.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Orphaned non-free image (Image:NTR ChibiRoboDS ss01.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:NTR ChibiRoboDS ss01.png.

Better source request for Image:El_Ballo.png

Thanks for uploading Image:El_Ballo.png. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 12:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Enchanted_Scepters_icon.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Enchanted_Scepters_icon.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 12:24, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
