Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a computer and video game that is based on the fifth installment of the popular Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and the film adaptation, for Windows, Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and Mac OS X.[1] It was released on June 25th in the US, June 28th in Australia and June 29th in the UK and Europe for PlayStation 3, PSP, PlayStation 2, Windows and the 3rd of July for the rest of the platforms[2].
The theme of the game is to explore Hogwarts and follow the story from the book and movie. However, unlike prior games like the action-oriented Goblet of Fire, this time the adventure will be a sandbox style game, similar to GTA and Bully, in that Hogwarts is fully explorable most of the time, and there are "discovery points" that provide rewards to the player, which can be activated by completing side missions. Furthermore, there will be battles between group of students, as shown in the game trailer.
The game also is the first of the series to make use of the motion sensing abilities of the Wii and Playstation 3's controls.
Plot
- For a complete synopsis see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger return to Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizard community is in denial about Harry's encounter with Lord Voldemort. This time you will not be able to play as Hermione or Ron, you will however be able to play as Fred and George Weasley, Dumbledore and Sirius at certain points in the game.
Controls
You now need to actually move your wand to cast spells. With an interview with IGN the creator said;
Game Controls Harry is now a pretty competent wizard and so his magic is not just getting stronger but also more varied. We've dramatically increased the number of spells he can cast, which has allowed us to create much more varied gameplay. We've also enhanced the way the player casts spells. I've never seen Harry Potter cast a spell by pressing a button on his wand - he paints a shape in the air with his wand and the magic flies out. So we've given this experience to the player by giving them direct control of Harry's wand arm, using the right analog stick on PS2 and Xbox360, the Wiimote on the Wii and of course the SixAxis control on the PS3. If you want to push something away, you move the analog stick forward, flick the Wiimote forward or move the SixAxis towards the screen. It's really cool, very natural and makes casting spells a much more magical experience!
Features

Missing Features
EA said they could not include everything, in particular
- The taking of OWL examinations directly; although you will earn OWL points by lessons - top marks will unlock new rewards
- Quidditch and Flying, apart from the part with Fred and George
- Changing characters to Ron and Hermione, but you may be able to change into Dumbledore, Fred or George and Sirius as the game progresses

Confirmed Combat Spells

Expecto Patronum is used in the beginning against the Dementors, and again once in a DA meeting, but because it is never used again, it has no specific wand movement.
Soundtrack
The game's soundtrack was composed by James Hannigan and conducted by Allan Wilson. Hannigan wrote themes for the various characters and incorporated Hedwig's Theme by John Williams into the score. IGN has given the game's music a 9.5 out of 10.
