Families

The main four families in Harmony include:

  • The Crane family. The richest family in town. Crane Industries is involved in the majority of business interests in Harmony. Alistair Crane the ruthless patriarch of the family has made it his life's mission to ruin the lives of the people in Harmony. An ancestor of the Crane family once burned town witch Tabitha Lenox at the stake.
  • The Bennett family. Sam Bennett is the chief of police in Harmony as was his father. The Bennetts and the Cranes have a long storied history of feuding.
  • The Lopez-Fitzgerald family. Martin Fitzgerald the patriach of the family who used to work for the Cranes went missing about 25 or so years ago. His wife Pilar was a house keeper for the Cranes for many years. Martin is Irish American while Pilar is Mexican American.
  • The Russell Family. The primary African-American family in town. TC Russell is a coach who blames the Cranes for destroying his dreams of being a professional tennis star particularly Julian Crane. His wife Eve was a once a singer and drug addict who dated Julian and conceived a son with him that is currently believed to be deceased.

Other notable families include:

  • The Standish family. The women of this family tend to have supernatural powers. Grace Standish married Sam Bennett while she had amnesia and gave birth to three of his children. Grace's twin sister Faith has a daughter named Charity who is supposed to be a powerful force for good.
  • The Hotchkiss family. Rebecca Hotchkiss is divorced from her husband Johnathan and has a history of being a tramp. She often helps her daughter Gwen hold on to her rocky marriage.
  • The Lenox family. Town witch Tabitha Lenox and her daughter Endora Lenox. Tabitha was originally portrayed as the embodiment of evil, but in recent years has become a much more likable character; in fact she has now been reclassified as a "good witch" by the Witches' Council. Tabitha, Endora and Kay Bennett often get caught up in supernatural plots involving other residents of Harmony.

Major Events

The Original Bennett House was sucked into hell.

In 2001 Hurricane Peggy hit the town and left Ivy Crane paralyzed from the waist down.

In 2003 Beth Wallace kidnapped Sheridan Crane from her home located on the Crane Estate, hid her in a pit in her basement, and then dumped her in the ocean once she gave birth and passed Sheridan's child off as her own.

In 2004 the Crane Jet carrying Antonio Lopez-Fitzgerald exploded after takeoff from the airport due to a bomb on board the plane.

An Earthquake hit in 2005 damaging most of the town.

A Tidal Wave caused by the earthquake wiped out a significant part of the town in 2005.

In late 2006 a criminal known only as the blackmailer began manipulating the town and its residents.

Specific State Location

The show has made a point in recent years of not giving a location for Harmony. Although early episodes implied that the show was in Maine, it has never been stated as fact. Various comments over the years have eliminated certain states (New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine and Connecticut have all been excluded over the years based on on-air comments that verified the five were different states), leaving only Vermont as a possible location for Harmony. Vermont, however, is a land-locked state, and Harmony is clearly a coastal town.
