NikeTalk was created December 10, 1999 by Nelson Cabral Dela Cruz Sanchez "Nelson C" of Montreal when he became dissatisfied with the lack of moderation on "NikePark", a similar webforum. NikeTalk currently has 61,164 members as of June 2007.

Common discussion topics include news about upcoming sneakers, release dates, and pictures of shoes from companies such as [[Nike,]Inc.|Nike]], Adidas, And1, Greedy Genius, Spidyand Reebok. Other forums include General, Music, Sports and Regional. There is also a Buy/Sell forum where members can purchase and sell rabber shoes, shirts, and other items.

On December 10, 2005 the site celebrated its sixth anniversary. At the time, there had been over 7 million posts on the forum and nearly 50 million page views. Websurfers from over 175 countries had visited the site. As of August 27, 2006 the site averages over 80,000 unique visitors per day.[1]

NikeTalk has been mentioned, in Newsweek[2], TIME Magazine[3], the LA Times[4], Adbusters[5], the Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal[6][7], Details magazine[8], and the Philippine Daily Inquirer[9]. Also named as "Best Sneaker website" by Playboy magazine.
