Full-blooded Saiyans

Broli

(FUNimation's dub: Broly) Voiced by: Bin Shimada (Japanese); Vic Mignogna (English)

Broli as a Super Saiyan

Broli (ブロリー, Burori, Broly in most English versions) is the first Super Saiyan born in more than a thousand years. At birth, he had an unusually high level of strength for a Saiyan. Broly's exceptional gifts marked him as possibly being the Legendary Super Saiyan. King Vegeta feared this and ordered for his execution. His father, Paragus, begged to spare his life. King Vegeta ended the argument by blasting him. As Broly's execution was carried out both he and his father were left to die. While Paragus barely survived the blast, Broli survived the attempted execution only to grow stronger. On that same day, Freeza acted on his own fear of the Super Saiyan legend and attacks Planet Vegeta. Amid the destruction, Broly encased himself and his father in a powerful shield of ki and escaped.

As great as Broly's power was, his emotional instability was greater. Fearing Broly's state of mind, Paragus had a scientist create a special control device to keep Broli controlled. Successful in controlling him, Paragus planned to have revenge on King Vegeta's son. When Broli encountered Son Goku, Broly became erratic though he was brought back under control by Paragus. Eventually, Broli overpowered the control device, and fully manifested his powers. No longer under the device's control, he unleashed his fury on Goku, Vegeta, Son Gohan, Future Trunks, and Piccolo, and defeated them all. The Z warriors eventually channeled their energy into Goku, who used the energy for one last powerful blow that seemingly killed Broly.

Broli survived and entered a Saiyan Space Pod, coincidently landing on Earth. The crater caused by his landing filled up with water and froze over time, during which he fell into a deep sleep. During this time, Gohan grew up, Son Goten was born and Goku was in the Afterlife. In an adventure to collect the Dragon Balls, Goten, Trunks, and Gohan find themselves in the mountain range where Broli crashed. Broly awakens and Goten, Trunks, Videl, and Gohan became victims to his rampage. It was only after some spiritual help from Goku that they were able to send Broli straight into the sun.

His name is a play on the vegetable "broccoli".

Bio-Broli

File:Biobroly.jpg
Bio-Broly

It is later revealed that a sample of his blood was preserved, which was used to clone Broli in a bioengineering laboratory. With his power, the Broli clone shatters the bio-liquid tank in which he was created. Once in open air, the bio-liquid that drenched the clone became corrosive and devoured cellular matter that was not like itself, turning the clone into a bio-mutant. Bio-Broli goes on a rampage and causes a leak in the bio-liquid containers, spilling the bio-liquid throughout the laboratory and the island on which it was located. Goten and Trunks help others escape from the lab and fire ki blasts onto the sea causing a tidal wave to flood the island, solidifying the bio-liquid. However, Bio-Broli reemerged from the sea as a mutated giant only to be solidified by the sea as well. Seeing their opportunity, Goten, Trunks, and Kuririn blasted the solidified Bio-Broli into oblivion.

Burdock

(FUNimation's dub: Bardock)

Voiced by: Masako Nozawa (Japanese); Sonny Strait (English)

File:Burdock.jpg
Burdock

Burdock (バーダック, Bādakku) is first introduced in the television special, Bardock - The Father of Goku. It was only after the film's airing in Japan that he was later shown in two panels of the manga by Akira Toriyama, who helped design the character for Toei Doga's television production.[1] His name is a pun on "burdock" (バードック, bādokku), a herb. While the Viz manga and FUNimation's Japanese-language English-subtitled anime both use "Burdock",[2] FUNimation's English anime dubs uses "Bardock",[3] and some Japanese merchandise even use "Barduck".[4]

The biological father of Raditz and Son Goku, Bardock is a Saiyan warrior who is given the gift of precognitive foresight. In several of his recurring visions, he witnesses the destruction of his home planet Vegeta by the hand of the tyrant Freeza. After escaping certain death from Dodoria, he tries desperately to change his planet's grim future by attempting to combat Freeza and his legion of men head on.However his struggle is futile since he had no idea how strong Freeza really is and underestimates him by using a weak energy blast that is practicaly absorbed by Freeza's Death Ball and is consumed by it along with his homeplanet, race and many of Freeza's henchmen who were punished by their incompetence.Moments before his death, he received one final vision of his son facing the warlord.

According to the anime special, while recovering from his last mission, Burdock was estimated a battle power of 10,000 by observant doctors.[5]

King Vegeta

Voiced by: Banjō Ginga (TV series, Japanese) Masaharu Satō (Movie 8, Japanese) Christopher Sabat (English)

File:King vegeta.jpg
King Vegeta

King Vegeta (ベジータ王, Bejīta Ō) was the king of all Saiyans and the father of Prince Vegeta. In the manga, he was said to have been surpassed by his son, Vegeta, as a child. Before the attack on Planet Vegeta, he realized that Freeza had no further use for the Saiyans and no longer needed them around. According to the anime filler, his attempt to attack Freeza failed as he is killed with a single blow to the chin. The Saiyan elites that followed were also felled by Freeza. In the movie Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, he ordered both Broli and his father Paragus' assassination because he was afraid of the child's growing power level.

King Vegeta is only seen in the anime special, the film Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, and some filler episodes. King Vegeta's appearance is never shown nor described in the manga, but he is mentioned briefly in a dialogue from Freeza to Vegeta in the original manga.

His name, like his son's, is a pun on "vegetable or vegeta".

He was voiced by Banjō Ginga in the TV series and Masaharu Satō in Movie 8.

Nappa

Voiced by: Shōzō Iizuka (Japenese), Michael Dobson (Ocean Group English dub), Phil Parsons (FUNimation English version)

Nappa

Nappa (ナッパ, Nappa) is an elite Saiyan warrior that accompanied Vegeta to Earth in search of the Dragon Balls. He has been Vegeta's attendant ever since Vegeta's childhood, and has a somewhat violent nature, even among Saiyans. He survived the attacks of Tenshinhan and Chaozu which drained their lives and put Piccolo to death with his incredible might, but fell powerless to Goku who had returned to Earth with new training from North Kaio. Vegeta ordered him to stop fighting Goku due to Goku's clear dominance over him; He was then executed by Vegeta when Goku injured Nappa to the point he was paralyzed , as Goku prevented him from killing some of the Z warriors.

In his name is a pun on "nappa", or "chinese cabbage." Nappa is also finnish for navel. Nappa is also seen briefly in Dragonball GT, in an episode when many dead people were resurrected. Vegeta easily kills him soon after.

Nappa also appears to be left handed, as he blocks Gohan's Masenko with his left hand and also shoots KI blasts with his left hand.

Onio

File:Onio.jpg
Onio

Onio is a short fat Saiyan from the self-parody Neko Majin Z. He comes to Earth in a spaceship that reads "Just Marriage" (an Engrish version of "Just Married"), and tells his wife he's thinking of making the planet their summer home. When Z sees them land, he decides they must be Japanese tourists, and puts on a Koala suit. Z tricks Onio and his wife into getting their picture taken, but grabs the wife's right breast while the picture is being taken. Onio notices this, and transforms into a Super Saiyan. After a short battle, Z transforms, and says now he's a "Super Neko Majin". The two continue to fight for a while, and Z beats him with a "NekoHameHa". Onio's wife drags him to the ship, and the two leave Earth.

Onio later comes back to Earth with Kuriza, and says that Kuriza is the strongest warrior in the universe, so it appears that Onio is Kuriza's henchman. Onio sticks around on Earth for a while to watch Kuriza fight Z and to play soccer.

His name is a pun on "onion".

Panbukin

(FUNimation's dub: Shugesh)

File:Panbukin.jpg
Panbukin

Status: Deceased

Panbukin is one of the members of Burdock's team. His cheek is scarred by a ki blast while battling in Oozaru form, to which he retaliates by crushing the Kanassajin that shot him. Later, he tackles Tooro after he hit Burdock in the back of the neck. On Planet Meat, he is killed by a group of Freeza's underlings, led by Dodoria.

His name is a pun on "pumpkin", well fitting his overweight physique.

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Takeshi Watabe.

Paragus

File:Paragus.jpg
Paragus

The father of Broli, both of whom despised King Vegeta (and by proxy, his son). When Freeza destroyed Planet Vegeta, Broli used a sphere of his own power to protect himself and Paragus, and transport them to another planet. Paragus raised Broli, and eventually had a scientist create a crown capable of restraining, and controlling Broli's rage and power. Paragus later came up with a plan to get revenge on Vegeta, but failed due to Broli breaking the crown and going berserk. He was killed by Broli who threw his escape pod into a comet. Paragus also makes a cameo appearance in Movie 12 as a villain in the background behind Freeza after they escape from hell.

His name is a pun on "asparagus".

Raditz

Voiced by: Shigeru Chiba (Japanese); Justin Cook (English) (initially Jason Gray-Stanford)

File:Raditz.jpg
Raditz

Raditz (ラディッツ, Radittsu) is the biological brother of Son Goku and the eldest son of Burdock. Raditz went to Earth to help in the planet's invasion, and to persuade his younger brother Goku to join the Saiyans in their conquest. However, disappointed to discover that Goku had lost his memories and adjusted to life on Earth, Raditz kidnapped Gohan and tried to force Goku to become an ally. During his battle with Goku and Piccolo, Gohan seeing his father in danger explodes with rage and delivers a massive amount of damage to Raditz in a single blow. Taking advantage of the situation, Goku puts Raditz in a full nelson and demands Piccolo to kill them both with the Makankosappo. Just before his death, he sneered that two more powerful Saiyans, Vegeta and Nappa, would be coming to Earth in one year's time. Irate, Piccolo finishes him off.

His name is a pun on "radish".

Seripa

(FUNimation's dub: Fasha)

File:Seripa.jpg
Seripa

The only female member of Burdock's crew. After Burdock is attacked by one of the last surviving members of Kanassa, Seripa and others decided to return him back to their homeworld Planet Vegeta so that he could be healed. After hearing that there is some possible damage in his brainwave patterns they've decided to leave without him to destroy the inhabitants on Planet Meat as their next assignment. After reaching Meat they immediately destroy all of its natives, but before they could celebrate the moment, she and the rest of the team were ambushed and killed by a group of Freeza's henchmen on his orders, including Dodoria.

The character's name is an anagram of the vegetable "parsley". Her seiyū is provided by Yūko Mita.

Son Goku

Toma

(FUNimation dub: Tora)

Toma

A tall masculine member of Burdock's team. He is Burdock's best friend and the only person Burdock gets a chance to talk to when he finds his group slaughtered by Dodoria and some of Freeza's underlings. The bloodstained headband that Burdock wears was worn by Toma as an armband when he was still alive. Burdock removed it from him after his death and wore it as a headband honoring his team.

His name is a pun off of "tomato".

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Kazuyuki Sogabe.

Totapo

(FUNimation's dub: Borgos)

Totapo

A large, balding member of Burdock's team; often keeping to himself when not eating or on missions. Like his teammates, he is killed while on assignment on Planet Meat by Dodoria's men, per Freeza's orders.

His name is an anagram on "potato".

He is voiced in the original Japanese version by Kōzō Shioya.

Tullece

(FUNimation's dub: Turles) File:Bardock.jpg Voiced by: Masako Nozawa (Japanese); Chris Patton (English)

Tullece (ターレス, Tāresu) is a lower-class Saiyan warrior and former servant of Freeza. He leads a small group of renegade warriors across the universe on a spree of destruction. Whenever they attack a planet, they plant a seed of The Tree of Might, then eat its fruit to gain more power. Ultimately, Tullece hopes to amass enough power to conquer the universe. Tullece may look strikingly similar to Goku, but his personality is the exact opposite. Tullece explains this similarity in physical appearance to Gohan, stating that it is a common trait among low-class Saiyan warriors. He is definition of evil. Having discovered that the environment on Earth was suitable for cultivating the Tree of Might, he and his henchmen invaded the planet. Upon their arrival, Goku and the other Z-fighters stood ready to meet them and the battle ensued. When Goku began to gain the upper hand he ate a piece of the Tree of Might's fruit and powered-up. Even at Kaioken x10, Tullece's increased power proved too much for Goku. Goku used his last resort and formed a Genki-Dama, but the attack failed because the planet was in a weakened state because of the Tree of Might. Goku however managed to form another Genki-Dama, from the Tree's own energy, and destroyed Tullece and the Tree of Might.

His name is a pun on "lettuce".

Illusion Saiyans

Brocco, Pumpkin, and Onion are Illusion Saiyans (Maboroshi no Saiya-jin) who only appear in the Pendulum Room, and/or in the Famicom game Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyajin. Brocco is a tall, muscular Saiyan with long brown hair and grayish skin, while Pumpkin is a short, bald Saiyan with navy blue hair around his head and two scratches on his face. In the Saiyan Saga, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Kuririn and Chaozu use the Pendulum Room to travel through time and face Brocco and Pumpkin in the past to prepare for the upcoming battle with Vegeta and Nappa. Onion is palette swap of Pumpkin that only appears in Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyajin. He is able to transform into an Oozaru, which is simply a palette swap of Vegeta's Oozaru form in the same game.

Brocco is a pun on broccoli, just like Broli; Pumpkin and Onion's names are simply the same as the food they are named after.

Vegeta

Partial Saiyans

Bra

(FUNimation's dub: Bulla)

Bra (ブラ, Bura) is the second child (after Trunks) of Bulma and Vegeta. Unlike Pan who acts tomboyish, Bra acts feminine and sticks around her mom. Like Bulma, Bra has blue hair in the anime and purple hair in the manga. Her father doesn't appear to make a point of encouraging her to train (like he does to her brother Trunks), but the two are quite close, as it becomes apparent in DBGT, where Vegeta proves to be very protective of his daughter on multiple occasions. During the Baby Saga, Bra (along with the rest of the world) is possessed by Baby. She is one of the four characters who help Baby become stronger; after this, however, her role is greatly reduced. Although she has never been seen in combat (She'd rather shop than train.), except when Baby had her under his control, she does have the ability to fly through use of her ki.

She is voiced in the original Japanese by Hiromi Tsuru.

Future Gohan

Future Trunks

Pan

Son Gohan

Son Goku Jr.

File:Goku jr.jpg
Son Goku Jr.

Son Goku Jr. (孫 悟空, Son Gokū Junia) is Son Goku's great-great grandson (Pan's grandson). Just like his great grandfather Son Gohan at a young age Goku Jr. is very timid, and would run away from situations like being bullied. He would not do anything to retrieve what was stolen from him. He is seen once at the end of Dragon Ball GT, fighting in what may be the 64th Tenkaichi Budōkai against a distant descendant of Vegeta's, Vegeta Jr. He also appears in the final DBGT special, A Hero's Legacy, in which he meets Goku. He might be only 1/16th Saiyan, but has the power to become a Super Saiyan.

His gi resembles Goku's, with the exception of having blue pants and a teal shirt underneath his vest (though in the finale of Dragon Ball GT, he wore Goku's preserved, ancient gi). Goku Junior's hair is in the same style, shape and form of Goku's. His hair and eye color are both black. His headband is red, which makes it resemble the headband Burdock wore before he took on Freeza to defend the Saiyan race from eradication. His skin color resembles Son Gohan's; milky white or very lightly tanned. The only notable difference between him and Goku and/or Goten is his face, which more resembles his mother's side of the family.

Son Goten

Trunks

Vegeta Jr.

Vegeta Jr. (ベジータ, Bejīta Junia) is a descendant of Vegeta, seen once at the end of Dragon Ball GT. He is much like Vegeta in name, appearance, and attitude. He fights in the Tenka'ichi Budōkai against Son Goku's great-great grandson.

He is either the great-great grandson or great grandson of Vegeta and Bulma. He enters a tournament and his challenger is Son Goku Jr. He proves to be just like Vegeta. The two competitors are matched equally. Vegeta Jr. eventually goes Super Saiyan, and is surprised to see Goku Jr. can too.

Fusions

Gogeta

Gogeta (ゴジータ, Gojīta) is the persons of Goku and Vegeta, merged together by the means of the Fusion Dance. He first appears in Fusion Reborn. Even when fighting side-by-side, Goku and Vegeta realized they wouldn't be able to defeat the monster Janemba. Thus, Goku persuaded Vegeta to do the Fusion Dance with him. Gogeta's appearance has characteristics inherited from both Goku and Vegeta, but the clothes he wears are in the fashion of the Metamorans, the alien race that developed the Fusion Technique. While neither Goku nor Vegeta were a match for Janemba on their own, Gogeta had the strength and speed to overpower the monster, and easily defeat him.

Gogeta makes a second appearance in Dragon Ball GT, this time transformed into a Super Saiyan 4. At Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta's suggestion, he and Super Saiyan 4 Goku unite to battle the seemingly unstoppable Super Yi Xing Long. Aside from his bright scarlet hair, Gogeta's characteristics are similar to that of a Super Saiyan 4 with the upper half of his body covered in red fur, still wearing his previously seen Metamoran costume. However, unlike his regular Super Saiyan state, which is all business, Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta takes on a somewhat of a wild demeanor. He toys with and taunts the evil dragon lord, only getting serious after he'd tricked the dragon into using his Negative Karma Ball so that he could turn it into positive energy and undo the damage that had been done to the earth by the Evil Dragons. He is completely invulnerable to any attack due to the immense power gap between him and pretty much all other opponents. His only weakness, his inability to maintain the Fusion for more than 10-15 minutes, left him just short of time to finish off Super Yi Xing Long after repairing the planet.

Veku

Veku appears in Fusion Reborn, with Vegeta reluctant to perform the Fusion Dance, he and Goku botched the first attempt. The result was the creation of the fat, roly-poly warrior named Veku. Since the Fusion that created had been a blunder, Veku's power level was extremely low, and perhaps his stomach was upset as well, for he pathetically and repeatedly passed gas. Due to his unpredictable motion and repeated gas attacks, Veku somehow managed to survive for 30 minutes against Janemba, after which a second Fusion Dance was performed correctly and Gogeta was formed.

Gotenks

Gotenks (ゴテンクス, Gotenkusu) is the persons of Goten and Trunks, merged together by the means of the Fusion Dance. After a few failed attempts at the fusion, Gotenks was finally born. In Gotenks, only the worst traits from Trunks' and (surprisingly) Goten's personalities seemed to appear. He is selfish, rude and extremely overconfident. Even so, the incredible power Gotenks displays more than make up for his attitude. At his first appearance, Gotenks immediately raced off to challenge Fat Buu. For his foolhardy efforts, he was rewarded with a sound beating from Buu. Afterwards, he trained in the Room of Spirit and Time, powering up even more in preparation for his battle against Super Buu. During his training in the Room of Spirit and Time, Gotenks developed an arsenal of super attacks, which made for an interesting (and somewhat silly) battle with Super Buu. Gotenks is capable of making the Super Saiyan 3 transformation, however the energy consumed in this form greatly reduces the amount of time Gotenks can maintain the fusion. Coupled with Gotenks' tendency to become easily distracted, this can be a somewhat serious liability. Gotenks was shown to have enough power to kill Buu, but the fusion wore off just as he was about to deliver a finishing blow. During Dragonball GT Gotenks was mentioned but was never used. Whenever Goten And Trunks said "Let's fuse," something would distract them from fusion. Gotenks is the third strongest hero in the manga surpassed only by Vegeto and Mystic Gohan. Contrarily to what some think, Gotenks is superior to Goku and it's well shown confronting their Super Saiyan 1 forms, Gotenks results far superior.

Vegetto

(FUNimation dub: Vegito, Viz manga: Vegerot)

Vegetto (ベジット, Bejitto) was a desperate fusion by Vegeta and Goku using the Potara Earrings in an effort to defeat Majin Buu. In the anime, Vegetto outclassed Super Buu in his base saiyan form, even launching the gigantic energy ball Buu made with energy from all the planets he had destroyed into outerspace. Super Buu then realized that Vegetto must have been toying with him all along, but still believed he was superior. When Vegetto transformed into his Super Saiyan state, his power and fighting skills outclassed Buu's so greatly that Buu could not even scratch him. In the original manga, Vegetto transformed as soon as he was created. Buu became so angry at the thought of this that he tapped into his evil power reserves to cause a dimensional collapse, but even this fails as Vegetto was able to break through the barrier Buu had created around himself. In desperation Buu turned Vegetto into a jawbreaker. However, this did not work either as Vegetto could still move and retained all his power. Vegetto then attacked Buu, who got pummeled embarrassingly. Since he could not fight back against an opponent that small and fast, Buu turned Vegetto back to his original self. Buu then absorbed Vegetto, but was unable to obtain his power either as Vegetto had created an energy barrier to stop Buu from gaining his power. Vegetto had purposely gotten himself turned into a jawbreaker and absorbed so he could free everyone else who had been absorbed by Super Buu. Once inside Buu's body, the fusion was reverted by unknown means.

Vegeto is the only fusion between Goku and Vegeta that actually happened in the manga. According to official databooks, Vegeto is the strongest being in the DBZ universe. Vegetto's form of fusion is a more powerful form than Gogeta's, (a result of the fusion dance), as the Elder Kai states. The fused person has equal characteristics from both people." Vegetto was more powerful than expected because of the fact that Goku and Vegeta are rivals and so their fusion was made even more complete, this was also stated by the Elder Kai.

As with all fusions, Vegetto's name is a portmanteau of Vegeta and Goku's original Saiyan name, Kakarotto (Vegeta + Kakarotto). In contrast, Gogeta is based on Goku's Earth name. Because of the way Viz transliterates the name Kakarotto in the English manga (Kakarrot), Vegetto's name was changed to Vegerot, which was more or less very unpopular.
