Bong-Rock is the modern successor to psychedelic rock or stoner rock. Early psych/stoner bands included Black Sabbath, Bubble Puppy St. Vitus/Obsessed were seen as influences on the updated genre with bands such as Sleep, High on Fire and even Early-Man exemplifying the genre. Some of the differentiations include a more abrasive tone in heavy songs, and intensely long and repetitive ambient sections in softer songs.
