Season 2006 was very disappointing for the club, as they finished second to last and had to play promotion/relegation play-offs. The games against JK Kalev Tallinn were close, but Tulevik eventually lost on away goals. Tulevik was not relegated though, as JK Maag and Tammeka merged, leaving a Meistriliiga spot vacant.
Tulevik played in two successive Estonian Cup finals in 1999 and 2000, losing to Levadia 2-3 and 0-2 respectively.
