Iggy Arbuckle is a Canadian animated series, seen in Canada on Teletoon, Australia on ABC Kids and on Jetix UK from August 25, 2007. The show is about a pig (Iggy Arbuckle) who happens to be a forest ranger, known in the series as a "Pig Ranger".

The series is created by Guy Vasilovich and is based on a comic strip in the National Geographic Kids magazine from June, 2004.

The Kookamunga

The show takes place in a vast land known as the "Kookamunga" (The "Kook" for short). It contains many different types of environmental areas, including:

  • Mount "Kaboom" - A stereotypically named volcano, who at times seems to be on the verge of erupting, even though, according to Iggy, it's supposed to be dormant.
  • "Brainfreeze" - Another stereotypically named landmark, this time an Iceland.
  • Mount "Peekaboo" - A benign mountain, which is frequently used for rock-climbing and sightseeing.
  • "Heebie-Jeebies" Forest - A woods-type forest.
  • "Mine-all"-Mine - An old mine located in the desert region.
  • "Mooseknuckle" - A town in the middle of the Kookamunga; where most of the goings-on in the stories takes place. Also possibly a parody of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Primary/Secondary Characters

Iggy Arbuckle

Iggy Arbuckle, voiced by Jonathan Wilson, is the title character, and the show's main protagonist.

Appearance:

He is a white pig with large, aquamarine eyes. He wears a green ranger's uniform and a hat which has a ranger's badge on it.

Occupation:

He is the lead forest ranger and keeper of the Kookamunga. He has vast knoweledge of the wilderness, and is in charge of making sure everything goes in proper order.

Family and History:

Iggy's ancestry consists mainly of explorers, all of whom have made great discoveries. These people are all modelled off of famous historical explorers.

Character Information:

Iggy will snore in his sleep if his snout gets knocked out of position, and the force of his snoring can produce an earthquake powerful enough to wreck an entire village. His snout also twitches and dances when he's lying. According to Spiff, Iggy will also pick at his teeth when he's worried. He believes in luck, and possesses a good luck charm - a toothpick he calls "Oswald".

Jiggers

Jiggers, voiced by David Berni, is a beaver who is Iggy's closest friend.

Appearance:

He wears blue overalls with a light-blue grid pattern, and a red baseball-style cap backwards. He has a pink nose, and his right eye is extended, and vertically longer than the left eye. He is somewhat of an over-eater, and is rather heavy-set as a result.

Friends and Family:

Iggy and Jiggers often call each other "Igg" and "Jigg". Jiggers has a nephew named Chip, who idollized Iggy for a while because Iggy was more courageous and daring than Jiggers.

Occupation:

Jiggers is the only official "Pig Ranger" other than Iggy (Though Catfish Stu temporarily became one in "The Things We do for Mud"). He is also a skilled mechanic and wood sculptor.

Character Information: Jiggers has a strong tail; it is capable of creating a wind current. He has a nagging fear of many things, notably spiders and the Heebie-Jeebies Forest. He is hesitant to take risks, but usually doesn't take much persuasion to go forth. He is also obsessed with being prepared for the worst, and tends to overpack on any trip.

Zoop

Zoop, voiced by Stephanie Milo, is a female chipmunk, and another friend of Iggy and Jiggers.

Appearance:

She has large, soft, blue eyes, and wears a pink shirt with a purple flower embroidered on her chest. While most of the characters go barefooted, she wears a pair of white sandals.

Occupation:

She runs the local refreshment shop, beauty parlour, and general store. The whole store is merely called "Zoop's". She also keeps a vegetable and flower garden.

Character Information: She is quite athletic, and is fond of Karma and meditation. When she listens to books on tape in her sleep, they subconsciously cause her to sleepwalk.

Spiff

Spiff, voiced by Derek McGrath, is a street-cleaning skunk.

Appearance:

He wears a beige shirt, a beige hat, and brown trousers. He is usually seen carrying a trash-picking stick.

Occupation:

Spiff's duty is to keep the Kook clean, and he takes this job very seriously. He gets extremely angry whenever anyone litters, rather than properly dispose of their trash. He considers tourists to be a problem, since they tend to be careless litterbugs.

Character Information:

Along with being so adamant about public cleanliness, Spiff seems to be very testy in general. He frequently argues with Zoop over very minor details. When pushed to the limits, Spiff will release a stench cloud, much to the horror of everyone present.

Kira

Kira, voiced by Novie Edwards, is a female of an indeterminate rodent species (Perhaps a Rat or Oppossum. She is yet another of the show's protagonists.

Appearance:

She wears a purple T-shirt which shows off her belly, pink pants with a scarf around her waist like a belt, and black slipper-type shoes. She has long, orange-red hair, tied back in a high-up ponytail. Her tail is long and hairless, like that of a rat.

Occupation and Hobbies:

She runs the tourist kiosk, and also keeps the Kookamunga Museum. Every week she seems to be interested in a new activity, such as mountain-climbing, architecture, or videography.

Character Information:

She is native to the city, and is a relatively new resident of Mooseknuckle. Therefore, she is unfamiliar with most of the Kook's traditions and folklore, but still enjoys learning about them and getting in on them. She seems to show up the least of the regular cast (the characters who are featured in the opening credits).

Catfish Stu

Catfish Stu, voiced by James Rankin, is Iggy's enemy, and the show's main antagonist.

Appearance:

He is a unibrowed catfish with brown eyes, a two-part moustache, a goatee, blue-green lips, yellow scales, and sharp teeth. He wears a light-blue jacket, a light-brown shirt, and blue trousers.

Occupation:

Stu owns "Stu's Adventure Camp", but comes up with many greedy plans in the meantime. He has two henchmen, both ferrets, who do most of the work for him. His plans eventually lead to trouble, usually resulting in Stu and his henchmen getting chased or being forced to undo all the damage they did.

Character Information:

Stu is greedy, and bent on becoming a millionaire. He is also self-centred and egotistical; believing himself to be above everyone else in Mooseknuckle and seeing nature as nothing more than a disposable resource to implement his plans. Along with that, he is somewhat of a picky eater, insisting on feeding only on gourmet food, and openly mocking and criticizing Zoop's health-concerned, all-natural-ingredient food products. Stu has a stuffed octopus named "Legsy", whom he is very fond of. He always sleeps with Legsy, and tends to go into a mild despair whenever it goes missing.

Robert and Robert

Robert and Robert, voiced by Patrick McKenna and Neil Crone, are Catfish Stu's henchmen. They are commonly referred to as "the Ferret Brothers".

Appearances:

The first Robert (pronounced Roe-bear, and voiced by McKenna) speaks with a French accent, and wears a beret, a white shirt with red horizontal stripes, and blue jeans. The second Robert (pronounced Raw-bert, and voiced by Crone) wears a light-blue shirt and dark blue jeans. Both of them have pale blue eyes.

Occupations:

When Stu's money-making schemes involve heavy labour, the ferrets are the ones who do it. Despite all the trouble they go through for their boss, he never sees their work as satisfactory. He is forever tormenting them by calling them lazy, and threatening to replace them with better assistants. If his abuse of them gets too extreme, they will sometimes abandon him, even in untimely situations. However, due to their loyal nature, they will always return.

Character Information:

They are rather stereotypical ferrets, as seen on various occasions. They're playful and mischievous, they grow lonely without one another, and they get very frightened and anxious when they're in deep water. Neither of them is terribly smart, but the French-accented Robert (roe-bear) seems to be keener and quicker-thinking than his brother at the best of times. Curiously, despite being siblings, their accents are completely different from each other.

The Great Bambzini

A large sentient totem pole that stands in the middle of Mooseknuckle. It used to be three explorers who captured a spirit known as "Yawny Yump-A-Lot". Yawny Yump-A-Lot claimed that if they released him, he would grant them three wishes. However, when they released the spirit, he cursed them so they would sit on each others' shoulders for all eternity; thereby turning them into a totem pole. They spend their time watching the goings-on in Mooseknuckle, and offer advice to those who ask for it. Iggy asks the Great Bambzini for advice whenever there is a problem. The Great Bambzini's answers always come in the form of riddles that only Iggy knows how to work out properly.

Natives/Minor Characters

Mercenaries of Brain Freeze who can be hired. They wear white scarves around their heads, fight using swordfish like swords, and "speak" with a Japanese accent.

The Lost Warthog Tribe

Native to the Kook, the tribe is made up of tribal warthogs who wear red caps. They have no sense of direction and are forever searching for the emerald of their tribe. This may be because the tribe's leader is shouting out the wrong directions. When the tribe aren't lost, they live in a teepee village. Jiggers temporarily became their king in "The Beaver who Would be King", because he wore the same kind of hat they did.

Citizens of the Lost City of Kookamunga

Chameleons who live in the self-sufficient but legendary Lost City. The city is said to have roads paved in gold, an eternally moderate temperature, and beautiful architecture. The Chameleons have relocated 28 times because they are unable to trust outsiders who come to the city. They pride themselves on their culture, which involves unique music and cubist art.

The Hermit

A hermit crab who never comes out unless it is worthwhile for him. In "Petition Impossible", when Iggy and Jiggers were trying to get 200 signatures for the petition, they tried to get him to sign. He made them do a ton of work on his house first, and took Jiggers' bottle cap collection (which didn't suit with Jiggers). He didn't sign in the end.

Cathy

The courier to Mooseknukle, she is an extremely punctual kangaroo.

Wing-Nut

A fox, who is reputed to be crazy.
