Kukar

Kukar (Serbian: Kykap) is a small village in Croatia located approximately 3 km from the town of Vrlika under the mountain Dinara.

History

Since Croat forces occupied Kukar in the 1995 Croat offensive Operation Oluja, Kukar has been a part of Croatia. Previous to this Kukar was located wihin the Republic of Serbian Krajina which broke away from Croatia following the dissolution of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

Populated by a both Orthodox Serbs and Bunjevci, the village of Kukar comprised of the following "houses" or families.

Babic - Orthodox Serb
Backovic - Orthodox Serb
Batovanje - Bunjevci
Savic - Orthodox Serb
Matusine - Bunjevci
