Aura Battler Dunbine is an anime television series, produced by ADV Films, aired from 1983 to 1984, ran for 49 episodes, and 12 volumes of videos were released on VHS and DVD. created by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of such anime series like Gundam and Heavy Metal L-gai, it was quite succesful in Japan, due to its combination of complex characters, radical mecha designs, and plot twists.

This anime falls in the sci-fi anime category, and some also include it in the mecha subgenre, because the heroes and villains pilot insect-like mobile suits, powered by mystical powers.
