The Delhi Public School Society is a non-profit educational body in India which included 95 schools inside and out of India as of 1st September 2002. The School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.

The first Delhi Public School (DPS) was established in the year 1949 at Mathura Road from where it continues to operate. The school began as Church High School in the President's Estate in 1941, was renamed to Naveen Bharat School in 1947 and finally moved to its present location on Mathura Road and was renamed as Delhi Public School in 1949.

The DPS at R. K. Puram

DPS Mathura Road was the only DPS till 1972 when a second school was established in R. K. Puram by R. S. Lugani who also became its first principal. While remaining part of the DPS Society, the school at R.K. Puram soon became independent of its parent. It established a separate primary branch at East of Kailash in 1975 and a second primary branch in Vasant Vihar in 1986 that had begun as an 'afternoon shift' at East of Kailash. The second and current principal of DPS R. K. Puram is Dr. Shyama Chona who took over the position in 1991.
