Van Halen North American Tour 2007 is a concert tour occurring in the Fall of 2007 for hard rock band Van Halen. It is Van Halen's first tour since 2004 (which itself was the band's only tour since they lost career momentum in 1998), and the first one with original singer David Lee Roth since he left the band in 1985 - 22 years ago. Roth was with the band from 1978 - 1985, when the band made their name.

The tour was rumoured for months, and there had been frequent rumours of a reunion for years in the band's past (in part fuelled by Roth's first public attempt at a reunion with Van Halen going wrong) but there had never been success before. Three times in 2000-2001, Roth entered the studio with the Van Halen brothers to jam.

The other interesting angle to the tour is that Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang Van Halen is the band's new bassist, the first time any slot other than the vocalist one has changed since 1974. This has offended many fans[citation needed], especially because Wolfgang is a mere 16 years old at present. However the tour sold very quickly, selling out several dates. Initially 25 dates across the USA/Canada were announced, but 8 more have been added due to this demand.[1]

The band's last tour, with Sammy Hagar in 2004, was originally set to be 50 dates and was extended to 80. Exactly how long this tour could stretch on for is unknown, but it is likely that the band members returning home for Christmas will stop the tour extending too far. Also, many venues are not even selling their tickets yet.

The tour is presently set to last from 27th September 2007 through to December 16th.

Possible tour extension?

David Lee Roth said in press conferences that a world tour would follow this one (as well as a new studio album) in 2008. Whether this tour would be a separate one or not was not announced though the band seems to be taking a break over Christmas. The tour has already been extended after initially strong sales from a 25 date one to a 32 date one.
