Release Date?

Is there a source for the release dates listed on the wiki page? All the websites I have looked at are "TBA" and what not.

Before the date of October 23rd was given from http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13847/Ace-Combat-6-Fires-of-Liberation-Dated/ and other gaming sites, there was no official release date. http://www.namcobandaigames.com/ listed it as simply Fall 2007. Timeless Enigma

HH-98?

Sorry, I'm not up to snuff on my Sikorskys, but I'm not aware of any HH-98s. However, the picture in reference looks more like a UH-60 Black Hawk variant but with its elevators pushed forward. IdoAlphaOmega 00:57, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The HH-98 is a fictional helicopter introduced in Ace Combat 5 (Used in a few missions by Sea Goblin)... electrosphere claimed it was Namco's name for an HH-60, but the new pictures pretty much prove that wrong. ZakuTalk 01:07, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So, apparently (according to the demo) it's called the UH-9 now. ZakuTalk 04:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation for PS3??

There is no information about this on the web, but we can´t forget that sony always had the exclusivity for this game, and, well, i already spent $700 dollars on a PS3, r u sure this game won´t come out for the PS3? if it hasn´t been confirmed yet, then i´ll have to pray to make it happen lol the sweet girl xoxo 04:21, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's a 360 exclusive. ZakuTalk 17:29, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to Ars Technica, it was originally a PS3 exclusive, and is now multi-platform. This needs to be reflected in the article. DestradoZero 15:45, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ars Technica's article does not provide any evidence that this game is or was, at any time, multiplatform. It assumes that development has begun for other consoles and thusly labels it "multi-platform". The Ace Combat 6 Official Site, however, prominently displays both theXbox 360 logos and Microsoft copyright notices. Furthermore, there has been no announcement by Namco as to a Playstation 3 release. IdoAlphaOmega 23:16, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I realized this shortly *after* posting, unfortunately. I see this eventually being announced as multi-platform, but until official it should definitely remain the way it is. However, has anyone mentioned it being an X-Box 360 exclusive? There's a difference between being acknowledged on only one system (so far), and being an *exclusive*. If information is *just* coming out, calling a game an exclusive without proof is unwarranted. DestradoZero 15:06, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It will probably be like Ridge Racer 7 or whatever and come out for the PS3 a couple months later. Bkkeim2000 19:25, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, Ridge Racer 7 is a PlayStation 3 exclusive. However, what they are planning to do with Ace Combat 6 is release it on the Xbox 360, and maybe release it on the PlayStation 3 at a later date.(Myscrnnm 01:07, 21 April 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Well, none of this speculation (ONE magazine is not enough of a source) will be going into the article until officially announced by Namco... ZakuTalk 01:29, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ace Combat 6 is CONFIRMED 360 exclusive. Look here: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/20/ace-combat-6-revealed-as-an-xbox-360-exclusive/ and here: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/news/story.php?sid=6167989&part=rss&subj=6167989 I'd say it clears it up pretty well. Fluke 17:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow now I either have to spend $400 for a 360 or buy the game and go to my friend's house down the street. ^_^ Why did they which from Sony anyway? Sam ov the blue sand 23:46, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Easy- Namco realized Sony hates its comsumers. Same answer for all the other FORMER PS3 exclusives. Who knew bad quality could be so good? Fluke 00:56, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know this is nonwiki but is it worth it to buy a 360? And why is this game on the PS3 games list?Sam ov the blue sand 01:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it´s not anymore on the PS3´s games list, but it´s a good question: is it worth it to buy a 360????? If so, we should make a flight squad on xbox live :D lol
NO not worth buying console for, at least wait untill they make it work (at least while not stored in freezer ^-^)

May's OXM says timed exclusive. pic: http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/5254/dsc00204gh4.jpg 207.210.20.237 03:08, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No flaming please if it is a timed exclusive it should read so. This article is causing some confusion.
The problem is that OXM is hardly a reliable source; they also claim that MGS4 is a timed exclusive. ZakuTalk 15:38, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This pretty much disproves that AC6 will go to the PS3. Notice the 'Only on XBox' pic at the top. http://media.ign.com/games/image/object/894/894201/acecombat6x360boxart_160w.jpg 66.205.41.58 20:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

new ign article suggests temp-exclusive: "July 19, 2007 - In the battle for exclusives, Microsoft scored itself a major win by securing the rights to have Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation appear on Xbox 360 before PS3." http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/806/806647p1.html since ign is considered a reputable source, i think it's time for an edit until new information comes out suggestion it is a pure exclusive. 207.210.20.237 19:52, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Until explicitly stated by Bandai-Namco, Ace Combat 6 - Fires of Liberation is XBox 360 exclusive. Quit posting otherwise. Meuacan 01:43, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contrary to what Meuacan wishes to believe, I happen to work at Microsoft and know for a fact that this will be a timed-exclusive. The PS3 will have AC6, but it will come out months after it is available for XBox 360. Now I know that others will tell me that they want sources, however I can't post up internal information, nor can WP be an 'original source' so that information would have be be posted in a magazine or such. In any case, take it as you will. AC6 will be on Xbox360 and PS3.--131.107.0.73 18:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter that you claim to work for microsoft, unless you cared to prove your credentials it would mean nothing. And if its proprietary information as you suggest, there's no point in even bothering.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 14:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I do believe that is up to the discretion of the publisher/developer. Hence I say to wait for OFFICIAL word from BANDAI-NAMCO. Not Microsoft.65.12.235.150 05:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
His IP does come from Microsoft, but regardless, we can't post this without a real citation. ZakuTalk 18:24, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let's just wait for any official news from Namco regarding PS3 availability. Until then, please do not put Playstation 3 on the infobox just because somebody claimed it is a timed exclusive. I've seen it happen in the case of Metal Gear Solid 4 (didn't we all?), the cases may be reversed, but it's all the same - just talk of something about games that may or may not be released on this or that system.Eaglestorm 02:32, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Page was blanked by a user witht he ip: 72.76.167.55, so I had to undo four edits. IdoAlphaOmega 20:10, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guys, is there's something wrong with the aircraft list? The wiki edit shows it, but the finished product doesn't. Eaglestorm 11:58, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New information?

I've seen at least three magazines with pretty decent articles on AC06, but there haven't been any additions to this article in ages. Maybe somebody could update?

Meh, I've read most of the articles; there's nothing that hasn't been on the namco.jp site for at least a month. ZakuTalk 23:30, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Namco has released its first AC6 trailer. saw it on youtube last night. it rocks! hehe. Eaglestorm 02:39, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. saw the trailer and nearly wet myself. gfx look good sfx look like another smash hit. story looks like a movie. all i need now is the raptor !
75.163.166.75 keeps on insisting that the game will only have 15 planes, and keeps on putting it in here. Hey, I don't know what you're doing, but you're messing up the Confirmed Aircraft list. Post the link of that damn interview you're talking about! Eaglestorm 02:23, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The page is fixed... i think, apparantly, there was a missing closing tag at the end of one of the line. AnnihilateApocalypse 06:30, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's 15 'LICENSED' planes, not 15 planes. Russian aircraft and planes made up by Namco aren't licensed. Also, Youtube isn't an acceptable source. ZakuTalk 21:31, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shall we put the Saab Gripen on the aircraft list? if you look at the pictures from the japanese site, it is clearly recognisable. http://www.acecombat.jp/ace6/charm/image2.html En51cm 00:27, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lot of stuff is on the JP site from previous games. Unless it's stated or shown in photograph running in Ace Combat 6, it's not a wise idea to speculate. IdoAlphaOmega 18:31, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He's probably referring to that Indigo Squadron Gripen screenshot (The Belkan flag is visible). 15 licensed planes only? damn, wonder what the two others are.Eaglestorm 03:34, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

15 flyable planes might be a good news after all. It may imply AC6 is more relistic than the prevous ones, relistic enough to a point that those defense firms wont lincence their planes. It's only my speculation though. En51cm 00:32, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just visited the JP AC6 site. I put in the data on the aerial fortresses. can somebody rearrange the footnoted entries? Eaglestorm 05:17, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can we all please confirm that the enemy squadron is spelt "S-T-R-I-G-O-N" and not "S-T-R-I-G-G-E-N"? It already said that in the demo and people are still insisting it's "Striggen", it's not, it's "Strigon". I also had to change the functions of the aerial fortresses 3 times because someone thought the Kottos is the AA platform and the Gyges is the Electronic Support platform. If you check the officical JP site you'll see it says that the Kottos is the Electronic support and the Gyges is the AA platform. Tomcat Man 19:54, 19 July (GMT)

Confirmed here. Scroll down to the Estovakian descriptions and you'll see the coat of arms with the Grim Reaper on it. Also of note is that the planes appear to be colored like Schwarze Squadron from AC Zero, whose lead pilot also appeared to be of Russian(-ish) descent.Franck Drake 16:00, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have the demo so, i don't know if its true, but i heard that if you fly below 5 ft in the demo you blow up. Can somebody verifiy this? (AC0 07:02, 13 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

PAL Release Date

The page says that the game is going to be released in the PAL areas at the same time as the NTSC ones, could whoever posted that please cite it since it's sort of unheard of for AC games. Auxfusion 09:24, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Time to create a Storyline section?

If the impressions I'm getting from the demo descriptions and the site's story section are correct, then perhaps it's possible to cobble together a tentative Plot/Storyline section for this. Right now I'm guessing that the demo focuses around the events at the start of the trailer, i.e. the invasion of Gracemeria.

Also, and this may be too early to ask...should there be "country pages" on Emmeria and Estovakia, as there are for Yuktobania and Osea?Franck Drake 16:04, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Until the game is released, let's not have any funny ideas about building a storyline section, nor country pages on emmeria, nordennavic, and estovakia okay? It borders on speculation.Eaglestorm 02:07, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aircraft

What happened to the aircraft section? IdoAlphaOmega 04:03, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RobJ1981 removed it a few weeks back...notability and cruft issues. Eaglestorm 05:11, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've had this argument before, so I'm not going to reiterate. However, all of the previous Ace Combat pages have aircraft listings as a matter of reference and simple fact since the aircraft themselves play such a big role. IdoAlphaOmega 22:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, IAO. It indeed is weird why this page doesn't have a list of planes when the others got 'em. Hope the damn thing is restored soon. I even had to erase this big disclaimer thingy...you know, the one usually seen before the start screen? On second thought, I've brought back the list, so it can be just like the others. Eaglestorm 02:11, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, uh, that list was full of BS. I removed any planes that haven't been seen yet; from now on, let's just include what's been seen in trailers, screenshots, or the demo. The only exception is the F-22, which is mentioned on an official website.[1] ZakuTalk 01:40, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you. Thanks. Eaglestorm 02:26, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well the legal information from the main site [2] lists some of the craft they are using in the game:

-Nimrod -F-15E Strike Eagle -F/A-18F Super Hornet -F-4E Phantom ll -AV-8B Harrier II plus -B-52H Stratofortress -E-767 -C-17 Globemaster III -KC-10A Extender -CH-47 Chinook -AH-64 Apache -XB-70 Valkyrie -MIRAGE 2000 -RAFALE -Typhoon -Produced in cooperation with Japan Air Self-Defense Force. (suggests the F-2) -F-22 Raptor -F-16 Fighting Falcon -F-117 Nighthawk -SR-71 Blackbird -AC-130 Spector -A-10A Thunderbolt II -B-2 Spirit -F-14D Super Tomcat -Tornado

Not saying that this is the complete list, but they would not list it if they did not have the license to use it. Also this doesn't say if these are all flyable by the player or not.-131.107.0.73 16:36, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Does anyone have any information on the Stealth delta that appears in the trailer in the scene with the Su-33 wing?

[IMG]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r187/dufusboy/Ace6Stealth.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r187/dufusboy/Ace6Stealth2.jpg[/IMG]

It has similarities with Fenrir, but it looks more similar to the YF-21 from Macross Plus (with it's nose and canopy config looking closer to an F-16).

I'm sorry, but that kind of question is only worth posting in electrosphere.info. Eaglestorm 01:59, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, that's not true. One of the Features of the Ace Combat series is the unique unlockable aircraft in each game. It was the Wyvern in AC4, The Falken in AC5, The Morgan in ACZero, the Fenrir in ACX. It's a popular theme and one that players have a tendency to climb over each other to discover. (144.137.213.225 13:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I disagree, knowing what's available in the game to fly and having that variety is a big attraction to this game and has been since Ace Combat 2. I mean the lists of aircraft in the actual game have been practically identical since Distant Thunder with a few additions with each subsequent release, but I think it's an important element of the description. IMHO (Bobbo9000 23:25, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References

I just fixed up the references for this article. The following links were also in the "References" section, but were not linked to any part of the text so I don't know what they're actually for:

New Info from Leipzig. Someone who has an account add the confirmed information found here: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/acecombat6/news.html?sid=6177411&mode=recent —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.203.30.30 (talk) 14:55, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

Unrealistic?

In some of the screenshots, i've noticed that the planes can carry 200 missiles; I'm not exactly sure about this because I didn't download the demo, but, if the planes can carrry 200 missiles, the missions must be very long. Buffalosoldier92 —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 14:58, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

same as in ac4, 5, 6, and probably the ones before it -- most missions are 10~20 minutes long, and the amount of missiles mean you don't have to keep refueling/resupplying every 20 seconds —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.48.146.32 (talk) 00:52, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I remember 4 where you had to re-arm about every two minutes. Buffalosoldier92 15:41, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dancing with the Angels

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRT9DOuLPSo What does that mean, it comes up 4 times in the new trailer of AC6 shown above... what do you guys think? Buffalosoldier92 17:06, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
