Theresa 'Terri' MacGregor is a former and short-lived fictional character on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation. She was portrayed by Christina Schmidt.

Season 1

Terri and Friends

Terri was often seen with her regular group of friends, consisting of Paige Michalchuk, Hazel Aden, and Ashley Kerwin. They were noted for their popularity and 'dominance' of the school. She was the shy girl of the bunch and always put herself down, because of her weight. Yet, she never realized how beautiful she was on the outside as she was on the inside.

Getting Drunk

Terri was always downhearted because of self-esteem issues with her weight. However when Spinner shows interest in her by asking for her notes when he clearly never had a use for them and Ashley encouraged her to go for it, Paige, who had a crush on Spinner and was clearly jealous that he preferred Terri to her. Spinner asks her to the school dance and she makes up an excuse that she has to do chores. Yet, Ashley being the good friend she is, gets Terri to come over and gives her a make-over. Paige shows up to help. Terri looks even more beautiful but is ashamed and says it's not her. Ash, has to get to the dance to help,but Terri is feeling a little nervouse and stays behind with Paige till she applies her make-up. When ash is gone, Paige advises Terri on the benefits of alcohol. Indulging in too much, Terri makes a fool of herself at the dance. She drops the bottle in the school parking lote. She staggers and Paige has to carry her and Ash is angered at Paige, but the princepal is comming and helps to get her inside as fast aspossible, so she won't get in trouble. Teri sees Spinner and dances with him. She goes around in circles , taking her fists and moving them in a circular motion, while taking about her true feelings. She finally becomes dizzy and falls to the ground. Her head hurts and has to run to the bathroom and puck. The next day she finds out that Spinner has lost interest because of her behavior the previous night.

Dabbing Into The Occult

In "Cabaret" Terri seems to find interset into the Occult.Ashley is practicing on the piano while Terri is working on a project. Terri finds something she thinks is cool. A protection chant. I call upon my angelic guardians, I call upon my spirit guides.” Ashley is freaked me out. And wonders Why she pick that topic for her presentation. Terri says that she loves this mystic oracle stuff. In Media Immersion Terri is giving her presentation. She says there are many mystic oracles, but tarot and ouji are her favorite and asks for a volunteer. She picks Sinner and he calls her Madame Terri. Terri asks him What would you like to ask the oracle? He replies What was the name of my first pet? Terri calls upon her angelic guardians, and spirit guides for help. (She moves the pointer on the board. Spinner says each letter as she moves it) It spells out Rocky and is right. Later Terri is doing tarot cards with Manny. Manny picked the fools card. Terri says in tarot, the fool represents fate. What’s important is it’s upside down. It means her day will end unexpectedly, with a twist. After, school lets out Manny twists her ankle. Paige wants to be in the band for the school talent show with Terri and Ash but Ash dosen't like it so she gets Terri to fake a tarot reading to Ash. Paige comes over with Ashley watching, what she would like to know? Paige asks Oh, mystic oracle. Should Two girls and a piano become a trio? Terri shuffles the cards and Paige picks one after Terri puts them in three stacks. Terri says Wow, the three of rods. Rods represent creativity, our band, and the three. Ash thinks it's fishy and gets her own tarot reading.(Ashley picks a card) High priestess. Teri says It means…go with the new. Sorry, Ash. The oracle has spoken. Yet Ashley does her own research and it turns out The high priestess means stay with the old. She confronts Terri and asked why she lied. Terri says it's because she dosen't ever get a say in anything and it's not fair. They are about to go on in the talent show and Ashley warns that the oracle said go with the old and they better watch out. Who knows what might happen if you defy them. Paige and Terri do the show while Ash watches and is surprised that everyone claps. Later Ashley approaches them and says they were great. They invite her back into the band and they argue over a name. They ask Terri to consult the Oracle, but Terri takes the cards and throws them out and says The oracle and her are no longer on speaking terms.

PMS

As the school talent show nears, Ashley decides that she and Terri should enter under the name "Two Girls and a Keyboard". But Paige wants to join the band too. She convinces Terri, who has just gotten into tarot cards and the mystics to fake a reading where the oracles tell Ashley to let Paige in the band. Ashley finally agrees and Paige joins the band. The two have friction from their head strong natures and argue about the name of the band. Paige insists on "Paige Michalchuk and the Sex Kittens" (shortened as "PMS"), but Ashley argues for the newly updated "Three Girls and a Keyboard".

Terri sides with Paige, but Ashley still doesn't listen. This sparks a huge argument between Terri and Ashley which causes Ashley to quit the band. The duo is a huge hit at the talent show, and wins the contest. Surprised and impressed with their performance, Ashley decides to return to the band, but listens to Terri more often. Thus begins PMS. Teri got to pick the name. After Paige and Ashley fought PMS ended. PMS's Return When Terri finds a website about Pro-voice song writing contest. Celebrating what women have to say. Does your band have what it takes to make a splash on the music scene. The Winning band gets a demo CD and a trip to LA. She shows Paige who is just as excited. Paige is skeptical about reaccepting Ashley into the band like Terri suggested. But when the lyrics and singing talent is at a low, she goes to Ashley's house and pleads for her to return to the band. She tells Ashley to write something "real." Ashley reluctantly agrees, and conveniently writes a song about rape, just as Paige is recovering from hers. Paige tells Ashley to go with the old lyrics, and storms out when Ashley tells her she doesn't know anything about rape. Yet they rekindle and go for the contest. Terri is shown to play the base guitar.

Ashley and Ecstasy

After Ashley's one-night stint with ecstasy, Terri, unlike the rest of the friends, stayed behind to help Ashley clean up both her house and her actions. Ashley lost her boyfriend and all of her friends except for Terri in one night. Terri showed that she was a true friend and a caring person in this episode by staying by Ash's side. (I give her four stars for this act.)

Season 2

Terri leaves Ash

After Ash seems to be getting popular again, Terri is happy to be by her side. Then as Ashley starts screwing up again and everyone finds out that Ash accepted a date with Sean, Ashley goes back to the unpopular section and this time Terri chooses to stick with Paige and Hazel instead. Ash had upset Terri by saying that Terri shouldn't be giving her relationship advice since Terri never had a boyfriend. This is a touchy subject for Terri and is shown to hurt her deeply. (Terri just wants to be loved.)

Plus Size Modeling

Toby's mom is an agent. On parents day she notices Terri, because she likes her look and gives her, her card. Terri starts to get more money and Paige and Hazel think she's shoplifting. It turns out Terri is a plus size model but becomes ashamed when the posters start spreading across town. She tries to get her friends to not make a big deal about it and isn't helped when she is insulted by an ice cream boy. Teri goes as far as canceling a photo shoot until Spinner encourages her by saying that she is really pretty. And any guy who tells you different is blind or jealous. So, just tell them to shut up. This gives her the strength she needs. She is walking around with Paige and Hazel, when they walk past the Ice cream boy. She tells him that most girls on the planet look like this. So get used to it. I made 500 bucks today as a plus sized model. Yeah, plus sized. What do you make, ice cream boy? After dissing the ice cream boy, Terri gets the confidence she needs to be proud of who she is. (Finally Teri sees what I see when I look at her. That she is beautiful, sweet, smart and ever boys dream girl. This episode shows the confidence that Terri has gainedd over the years.

Understanding Craig's Pain

At the end-of-the-year school dance, Craig breaks down when the reality of his father's death finally strikes him. Terri tries to comfort him as she tells him that she understands what he is going through because she knows what it's like to lose a parent.She told him, when she was a little girl that she was at a birthday party. She was going to play pin- the tail- on the donkey when she learned that her mom died. She didn't think about it at the moment and she was mad, because she didn't get to play and had to go home. Later, she relized that she was never comming back. After giving him a shoulder to cry on, Craig eventually calms down and joins concerned, girlfriend Ashley for a dance.

Season 3

Terri's Secret Admirer

At the start of season 3, Terri starts wondering who in the world is sending her roses everyday and taping them to her locker. At first, everyone thinks it's Toby, when Toby denies this, Terri waits outside her locker early the next morning. She caught Rick taping a rose to her locker and approached him. Rick puts another rose on the locker, Terri appears from where she was watching* Rick: Um, Hi. Uh, yes, you've caught me. Terri: I've been waiting for hours, I can't believe how sneaky you are. Rick: Well, for one, a secret admirer is a demanding occupation and 2, your worth it. I do hope leaving roses wasn't too intrusive, I'm a little shy. Terri: Me too and I think it's sweet. Rick: You had no inkling it was me? Terri: Nope, guess I'm not physic.From that moment on, the two started going out.

Abusive Relationship

Terri becomes thrilled after getting her first real boyfriend, Rick Murray. He seems so perfect and right for her. Rick and Terri had both never had a real relationship. Terri was so happy that she finally found a significant other.(Due to Terrri's over shyness.)They are seen in the hallway kissing. (Rick kisses her on the cheeck, which has a really romantic feel to it. Rick is always going to Terri's house and seen walking together. However, things take a turn when he begins to be too controlling and starts being possessive over Terri. At the Dot, they are ordering food and Terri wants a burger and some fries, but Rick suggest she gets a salad and leads to her friends mistrusting Rick as odd. He also accuses Jimmy of likeing Terri more then just a friend and tries to make her stay away from him or use it to bring her back to him in his apologies. Terri tries to convince herself and others that its nothing but then he starts hitting her.

One of Terri's best friends Marco made up a play, Were Terri is the star and Rick was the stage manager. Rick was angery and wanted her to not listen to Jimmy. He was cast as the director after Marco didn't want to direct after writting the play. Terri tells him that he is the director and has to do what he says. Yet on the day of the big play, Terri sees that Rick is upset in the audience and feels guilt and sympathy for him. She does as he asked. It only leads to her being embarrassed, when all the other kids start laughing at her and she runs out in the hallway to cry by herself. (Poor sweet Terri, God bless her heart.)

After school, Rick walks Terri home and she is still upset. She tells Rick that he made her look stupied and humilated. This enrages Rick and he grabs her arm. He twists it and sinks his nails into her wrist. Terri is shocked and in Terror. He lets her go and she walks away from him. The next day, she gets off the bus and he is waiting there with a bouque of roses for her. He apologizes by calling her sweet and perfect. Terri isn't used to be calling these names by boys and persude after, takes him back. In the bathroom, Terri is telling her friends how Rick is so romantic by making them dinner. Paige walks out, while Terri and Hazel are applying make-up. Hazel notices her bruised wrist and questions Terri about it, but Terri lies and leaves.(A common trend in abused women to lie to protect the men they love.) Hazel tells her to be careful. Paige invites Terri to a girls night out and Terri goes to ask Rick if they have any thing planned for the afternoon.

Rick is taking down the set of the play,when Terri asks him about plans for that afternoon. Rick wonders why he can't come. Terri tells him it's girls night out and sort of for girls. Rick become angry and tells her he knows what girls night out means. He accuses her of trying to met other guys and Terri tells him, he's just being crazy. He is infuriated with her and slaps her. Telling her to never call him that again. He cuts her lip and you can see the sadness and terror in her eyes. (It breaks your heart to see that look on her face after she was hurt by the one person she loves the most, besides her Dad.) At girl's night. Paige, Terri and Hazel are having a blast. Paige goes to get more snacks, while Hazel and Terri do nails. Hazel asks if Terri and Rick are becomming more serious and if they ever fight. Terri tells her, sometimes but only when she hurts his feeling. (Terri, When are you going to take off the Rose covered glasses and see Rick for who he truely is?) Hazel notices her cut and asks if Rick is hurting her. She gets mad and says that Hazel is jealous that someone finally loves her and not Hazel. She gets up and storms out. On her way home, Rick is in the alley and waiting for her. He sees she's upset and tries to apologize again by saying how perfect she is and he loves her,Terri is touched but still upset. Rick says that she should only see and talk to Paige and Hazel at school only. She walks away after saying she needs time alone. He shouts from behind her, you need room from me. Teri turns around and tells him with disstress that she loves him, but he is sufficating her. He gets mad and pushs her against a wall. She finally has had enough, Terri can't take it anymore. She says that's the last time you'll ever touch me and dumps him.

Jimmy's assurance that he will protect her from Rick if he ever tries anything again. (Three cheers for Terri.)He tells her this the next day and is walking in the hallway with Hazel, they are talking about how stupid she feels for staying with him. Hazel tries to help her feel better by saying it was her first relationship and she wanted it to work out. Then Terri says she still has feelings for him but stops right in her tracks when they see a rose by Terri's locker. Hazel tells Terri she has to stop those feelings and Terri sees Rick by the door watching her. She drops the rose and crushs it under her foot saying I know.(Props for Terri.)

Terri in a coma

Terri once again falls into Rick's trap and they begin seeing each other again. We start off by seeing Hazel, Jimmy, Spinner and Paige discussing a trip they plan on taking on Saturday. Terri walks up to the table, looking rather pretty. She askes What's going on? Paige tells her about the Road trip. Her folks are away and she's got the car keys. Yet Terri has no one to go with, since all her friends are dateing each other and she'll feel like the fifth wheel but Paige tells her to bring someone. Ms. Kwan's class is in the gym practicing mime movement with a partner. Rick watches Terri as he works on his. Ms. Kwan tells the whole class that now it's time to move on to trust exersices. So find a new partner and decide who's A and who's B. Everybody scans out and grabs a new partner. Rick walks up behind Terri, who appears to have noone. Rick(Smiling) tells her she can be Which ever she wants. Terri turns around and just looks at him for a second. Terri says Fine and she'll be A. Ms. Kwan tells them she wants the As to stand behind the Bs(Takes Terri to use as an example) and she want them to turn their backs to Bs like this. Bs, open your arms, because the As are gonna fall back into them. Paige and Spinner try it. Paige falls back and Spinner catches her. They laugh and do it again. Terri looks at Rick, who has his arms ready. Rick tells her, Do you honestly think I'm going to drop you? 'Cause I'm not. Terri turns around and relunctantly falls back into his arms. He catches her. Rick(Smiles) and says That wasn't so bad, was it? Terri looks at him and gives a little smile.

The bell rings and everybody exits the class. Terri and Rick walk out together, Rick talking enthusiastically. Rick tells her he's just desperate for a real opportunity to develop their real acting jobs. Terri reminds him of Marco's play. Rick says he don't mean ameturish theatrics, he mean the classics like Brech or Ibsen. Terri tells him, there's a mime unit next week. Rick says Oh yeah great, just what the world needs. More people walking against the wind. They both laugh. Rick stops and looks at her. Rick says he wanted to call her...so many times. He just didn't know what to say accept, he was sorry...for his temper and what he did. He never meant to hurt her.... and missed her. Terri says she knows what he means. Rick says It was..it was all his fault, but if there's any way, any way that she might think-. Yet Terri cuts him off and says she'll see him in Bio. Terri walks away and Rick just watches her.

It's Saturday. At The Dot Grill, Hazel, Jimmy, Spinner and Paige are sitting at a table laughing. Suddenly Terri walks into The Dot with Rick. Terri says Hey guys and Sorry she's so late. Rick asks Terri, If he can buy her a late`? Terri says he's So sweet. (To the guys)I'll be right back. Terri goes with Rick. Everyone looks at eachother in shock. Hazel thinks she must be hellucinating and Jimmy hopes so. Paige refuses to drive that freak around all day. Yet, Spinner knows if they leave him behind garranteed they leave Terri behind. Without any of them to look out for her. And then it's open season for Rick again. We see Rick and Terri drinking their lat`e's together. We're now at a park. We see a couple smaking out in a convertible. Paige pulls the van up and parks right next to a picnic table. Everybody loads out. Jimmy and Spinner are playing frisbee. Terri and Rick are sitting down talking. Rick tells her he'll be over there, so if she need him.. Rick takes off. Paige walks to where Terri is, looking rather tense. Paige asks her if she wants to uh, play some frisbee with them? She needs to show Spin and thing or two. Terri tells her Maybe later. Rick wants to talk. Paige sits down next to her. Paige says that she should come over tonight. Just hang out, dish with the girls. Terri is like I'm fine Paige. There's nothing to worry about. Yet, Paige is still angrey with what he did to her and says So what, you're just forgiven creep-boy for beating you up? Terri says He apologized. (Still Ter, he hurt you. He had no right and you need a better boyfriend then that.) Paige speaks the truth when she said Of course! His type always does so they can get another shot in at you. Rick walks up from behind the van. Rick says One, you have no right to dictate who Terri's friends are. And two, you're a vicious backstabber. Paige is fired up and says Oh, I'm vicious? Rick: Everything you say is a judgement. You think you're so perfect. Paige: What?! Well I'd rather be that than a psycho! Rick looks angry. He kicks the van in frusteration and storms off. Terri stands up and confronts Paige.Terri: Rick's right. I'm so sick and tired of you pushing me around telling me what to do, I'm sick of it! Paige: Fine. If I'm such a bad friend, go after him. Go! Terri glares at her and then goes and follows Rick. Paige sighs in frusteration.

Now we see Rick stopping near the woods. There appear to be concrete blocks lying around. Rick kicks the air angrily. Terri catches up to him. They share a kiss before they start talking again. Rick wants to separate from the group, but Terri wants to join her friends and insists that the pair ignore Paige. His possessive side soon surfaces again, and he becomes angry and grabs Terri's wrists. Now things are starting to look tense(My heart pounding). Rick grabs both of Terri's arms firmly. You can hear the terrifying anger rise in his voice He screams that they will not go back, and he gets so infuriated that he pushes Terri. She falls back and smacks her head on a concrete block and loses conciousness. Rick gives a frightened gasp and stares in utter shock of what he had just done. Paige is starting to get worried about Teri and Spinner agrees to go look for her. Spinner and Paige walk through the bushes and see Rick kneeling down in the opening of the woods. He trails off as they see that Rick is leaning over Terri's unconcious body. Rick stands up staring at them as if to say either it was an accident or it wasn't him. He runs off.

Spinner and Paige run up to her unconcious body. Paige kneels over her. Paige: Terri...(To Spinner)Okay, get your cell now! Spinner runs off. Paige holds Terri's head. Blood comes off the back of her head onto Paige's hand. Now she is in a coma and soon everyone wonders what will happen to Rick. Now at school. Mr Raditch is speaking on the video announcements. Everybody in the Media Immersions room is listening. Mr Raditch: And finally, as some of you may know, Terri McGregor is in the hospital with injuries that she sustained over the weekend. I know I speak for all of Degrassi when I wish her a speedy recovery. Thank you. Everyone wonders if it was an accident but Spinner maintains it was no accident and If Rick steps one foot in Degrassi he'll be the one in intensive care.Paige makes a card for everyone to sign for Teri.Now we see a hospital building. From there we see Spinner and Paige(holding the card) walking down the hospital wing and stop at a window. Inside we see Terri lying on a hospital bed with an oxygen mask on and a white bandage around her head. Terri's dad walks up to the window. He looks at Spinner and Paige. They talk and he can't figure out how Rick could do this to her. She was over the moon for him. He tells them she has Surgery tonight. They found a blood clot. They look at each other and he finds out they knew he was abusive and is angrey they didn't tell him. Paige and Spinner feel guilty but in the end Terri's dad assures them they are great friends. Teri comes though the surgery and we find out in the next episode that she is doing much better and can wake up at any time.

Aftermath

In "I Want Candy" (Episode 3.20) Ashley, Paige and Spinner go visit the recently injured Terri, who had slipped into a coma at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Rick. This is the last time the character of Terri is seen on the show as her father decided to enroll her in a Private School to get away from Rick. She tells Ashley that she suffers frequent headacks from hitting the rock and has a nasty gash on her head. She was no longer in the show post-season three, with her disappearance never fully explained on the show. According to degrassi.tv, her character was sent to a private school by her dad due to some slight brain damage and to get away from Rick. In real life, Christina wanted to leave so she could become a plus-sized model for Torrid.

Other Mentions

In the season 4 episode "Mercy Street" when Paige hears that Rick is coming back to Degrassi, she says that Terri transferred to a private school and still communicates with her via instant messaging. Rick will be bullied because of what he did to Terri in season 3. (In the Season 4 deleted scenes section, Marco and Alex confront the principal of Degrassi regarding the return of Rick, they later remind the principal that Terri's absence was due to the transfer to another school based on fear.)
