Phrenology?

Someone please get serious.

Revamp?

This whole page feels like it was written by a fan, which isn't really the point of Wikipedia. I'd like to propose a revamp of the page that limits the content to just the facts, eliminating vague references to the quality of the music. Something like: Members, Albums, Notable Songs, Awards, Links. I'm happy to make the changes, but they're too large to do without getting some opinions. Thoughts? | Keithlaw 00:32, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Keith - I agree, I think the page has a big need for a major update. Go for it, man. IanMcGreene 16:31, September 8, 2005 (UTC)
Game on, then. I'll tackle it over the weekend. Thanks. | Keithlaw 18:54, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Organix

I didn't want to take it upon myself to edit this in case I am wrong about it, but is there any confirmation out there that Organix is really a live recording from Germany? I recently acquired a copy of the album, and the only song that's mentioned as being recorded live is Essaywhuman, and it says that it was recorded in Slovenia, not Germany. Numerous comments that I've read from Questlove (see Homegrown, Vol. 2's liner notes, for one example) indicate that the band was given free recording time in a studio somewhere (I can't recall if the exact location was named or not - I'd have to check) to record their debut. Not to mention that aside from the aforementioned Essaywhuman, it doesn't sound like a "live" album to me.

Are there any other sources out there that can show otherwise? Perhaps I'm wrong, who knows.

You're right, it's not a live album recorded in Germany. It is a studio album that, as you noted, has one live track.--Ryanlovesyou 23:35, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Members

Why does it appear that the "Members" section of the article has been cut off, and is excluding large amounts of information (i.e., that Trotter and Thompson were the founding members, they were originally known as "The Square Roots," &c.)?

Discoraphy

The Do This Well compilation of remixes and rarities should not appear in the discography. It was a poor quality, bootlegged, unauthorized collection. I've deleted it from the discography. Jean15paul 04:08, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:3112.jpg

I found Image:3112.jpg and noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Someone will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If it was obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If there are other files on this page, consider checking that they have specified their source and are tagged properly, too. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:30, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:3112.jpg

Image:3112.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 05:30, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:The roots - adrenaline.jpg

Image:The roots - adrenaline.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Departure of Hub

Not quite sure if I can put this in the article, but I wanted to address the speculation of Hub leaving The Roots. I was at their Montreal show earlier tonight and they had a new bassist, a younger guy named Owen. After the show, I had the chance to speak with Black Thought who confirmed that Hub had "retired" and that tonight's show was Owen's first live show with The Roots. If you wiki gurus think this should be added, please do so.
