The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is a medical school in Bronx, New York. It is part of Yeshiva University, and began classes on September 12, 1955. The first class, in 1955, had 56 students; the medical school currently admits about 180 students per year. There is also a graduate school, and a combined M.D./Ph.D. Medical Scientist Training Program. Combined with postgraduate students, enrollment (as of 2002) is more than 800. One of its most famous graduates is former Vermont governor and 2004 presidential candidate Howard Dean.
