Davis High School (Utah)
Davis High School is a public school located in Kaysville, Utah. It is a member of the Davis School District. The mascot of Davis High School is a Dart. The school has been divided into five "small schools" based on student interest in an attempt to create smaller groups of students taught by the same teachers. The five small schools are Social and Human Services(SHS), Business and Information Systems(BIS), Arts and Humanities(A&H), Fitness and Health(FHS), and Math, Science, and Technology(MST) [1]. The school was established in 1914 and underwent reconstruction during the 2003-2004 school year[2].
Renovations
Numerous renovations have occurred to the original 1914 building. Before being torn down in 2003, it had several abandoned and even condemned classrooms which were always kept locked. Groups such as orchestra, band, and theater were given safe, but deserted, classrooms and/or large closets to use as storage space. These portions of the building were called "Siberia" by students because of their remote locations. Urban legends about the building were spread throughout the community before its destruction. Perhaps the most famous of these is the rumor of an abandoned swimming pool. There is still a large amount of controversy regarding the existence of this pool. Many teachers who have taught at the school for long periods of time claim that it never existed. On the contrary some students claim that ancestors who helped build the school have confirmed the existence. Some alumni have even given a location for the pool as beneath the girls' gymnasium. Because of the school's reconstruction from 2003-2004 there will probably never be a positive confirmation or denial of its existence.
Academics
Davis High School was the number one school in the state of Utah in regards to AP exams taken (1,345) and percent of AP exams passed (83.5%)[3]. Davis High School also has an extremely high graduation rate, at 98.6% during the 2005-2006 school year[4].

School Store
Davis High School has a student-run school store called "The Point" open every day at lunch. The Point sells desserts, drinks, and various lunch items as well as school apparel. The store is run by students in the retail class, part of the School of Business [6].
Davis High School's former building, which stood from 1914 until 2003, housed a school store called The Canteen. Like The Point, this location offered a selection of food and beverage items as well as school-related merchandise.

The Davis Dart is the official news publication for the school. The student staff is collectively referred to as the Dart Staff. The publication is released monthly, except during the summer months. [7]
