State Route 132 is a route in the Central Valley that leads to the Sierra Nevada foothills and the California Gold Country. It also connects the city of Modesto with the San Francisco Bay Area via I-580, although this route is discouraged due to it being a two-lane road between Modesto (Maze Boulevard in the city of Modesto) and Interstate 5 (Motorists are instead encouraged to take CA-120 in Manteca to I-5 and I-205 to I-580.) East of Modesto, the road climbs the foothills and finally ends at CA-49. Portions between I-5 and I-580 is a four-lane freeway, and there are plans to upgrade the portion between CA-99 and I-5 to an expressway. Route 132 is a two lane road important to recreational travelers enroute to Modesto Reservoir, Turlock Reservoir, Lake Don Pedro and the Sierra Nevada foothills.[2]
