St. Munchins College is also well known for its rugby tradition. Former pupils of St. Munchins College include former Irish rugby internationals; Bill O'Connell, Bill Mulcahy, Larry Moloney, Colm Tucker (also a Lion), John Fitzgerald, Paul Hogan, Philip Danaher, Anthony Foley, Keith Wood (also a Lion and Irish captain) and current Irish internationals Marcus Horan, Jerry Flannery, Barry Murphy and Jeremy Staunton.Munchins is Limerick's most famous rugby school...but last year did not hit there normally great heights losing in the senior semi's and the junior's losing in the quater finals.
The college has also won the Munster Schools Senior Cup on five occasions; 1968, 1982, 2002, 2004 and 2006.
Saint Munchins also hold the Bowen Shield 06/07 and the Munster U-14 McCarthy Cup 06/07.
