Myles R. Kennedy (born November 271969) is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Spokane, Washington, currently fronting US rock band Alter Bridge, the brainchild of former Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti.
Kennedy was previously the lead singer/lead guitarist with the rock band, The Mayfield Four which was formed in 1996 with childhood friends; Zia Uddin, Marty Meisner and Craig Johnson.
Kennedy was previously a guitar instructor in the Spokane area, where he is well-known. He has been known to appear as a guest both live and on recordings of various bands over the years. He also has experience in the acting world as the glam metal character "Thor" in the 2001 film, Rock Star.
He was also the guitarist in a jazz-fusion group called Cosmic Dust before the formation of The Mayfield Four. A web page with "The Cosmic Dust Fusion Band" can be found here. Myles guitar-work with Cosmic Dust was very advanced, combining his jazz theory knowledge with his advanced technical abilities. It could be thought of as a combination of traditional jazz guitar and more metal-esque shredding. Basically, he could play jazz by implying chord changes and shred with extreme speed and precision.
He was also in the band Citizen Swing, where he played guitar and sang. A few (currently two) songs from this band can be found here (the top two songs).
