Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. No, you do not have a "right" to promote "your" school on Wikipedia. Also, please note that I have no connections to any other "gemmology school". I have blocked your account for repeated spamming. Vsmith 00:56, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

E-mail response

Regarding your e-mail note, your accusations and empty threats are simply misplaced. Your block is now expired and you are welcome to post a response either here or on my talk page, I'm not sure why you removed your previous post there. Again, you seem to have a connection to the external link that you are adding - that becomes a conflict of interest issue in addition to simple WP:SPAM.
If you feel either that your school should be included in the external links on gemology or that other school links should be removed, then you should post a note on Talk:Gemology to that effect. Simply re-adding the link to your school will result in removal as spam and a longer block for repeated spamming.
If you feel my actions as a Wikipedia editor and/or administrator are out-of-line, you are welcome to post a note at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents and other administrators will review the issue. That link would be the higher authority to which you threatened to take to issue in your email message. Vsmith 01:53, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
