So far I've been editing a number of articles concerning Christianity and its various expressions. Disclaimer: counting childhood and adulthood both, my own journey has included non-denominational, Lutheran, Assemblies of God, United Methodist, Free Methodist, and Mennonite churches. A few years ago our family joined the Eastern Orthodox Church, and we are now part of the Orthodox Church in America. Naturally, I do my best to present things as neutrally as possible, aiming for historical accuracy and integrity.
Some of my other interests are classical and jazz music, good fantasy and science fiction, family life, and computer science, as I'm a programmer by trade, with a bent towards Open Source. I find I get more out of Wikipedia the more I put in, and think it's a fantastic collaborative effort. The longer I participate, the more I learn, both from reading other contributions and doing more research for my own.
To Do
Improve or expand
- Masoretic Text -- more on history; include references
- Samaria -- mention the Samaritan text in context of MT and Septuagint
- Trinity -- add link with explanation, possibly upload picture if permission can be obtained: http://www.rollins.edu/Foreign_Lang/Russian/trinity.html
- Sanctuary -- add to history; add Orthodox practices, including relics and antimension, and who enters under what circumstances.
- Eastern Orthodoxy
- Hagia Sophia -- just add to the material that's there; architecture, other major events
- Christology -- more detail
- Olga of Kiev -- deserves lots more detail; look into sainthood
- feast day -- link to saint, include fixed feasts, movable feasts, fasting, Great Feasts, etc.
- liturgical calendar -- redirect to liturgical year??
New articles or sections of articles needed
- Monarchianism -- research what this was really about, who said what about whom, etc. flesh out the article.
- Jesus Prayer -- more detail?
- Tuskegee Institute -- verify spelling (Tuskeegee??), link to/from Reconstruction, Jim Crow, Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver
- Water -- add a section regarding religious significance. Remember the Ganges. also: Global warming and ice cap melting??
- Cathedral -- incorporate information on cathedrals in the history of the East; article currently focuses on England, Germany and France.
Should probably have at least a brief article on the Church Fathers, and the Desert Fathers. Remember the mothers as well.
- Gregory Palamas
- Emelia
- Macrina
- John the Evangelist -- needs more detail
- Theophan the Recluse
- John of San Francisco
- Catherine of the Wheel ( redirect to Catherine of Alexandria )
- John of Damascus
- Andrew
- Basil Fool for Christ
- Theodore the Studite (is that his name? the one who defended iconography around the 7th or 8th century, with John of Damascus?)
- Perpetua
I tend to routinely monitor a number of articles related to theology and religion.
Need to Edit
- Christian anti-Semitism -- Research and add historical background regarding the church synods that are compared with Nazism.
talk:Christian anti-Semitism page.
- Saint_George -- change to George, with a redirect; edit entry on List_of_Saints; expand regarding "George and the Dragon", verify that he's Orthodox and Catholic as well.
- Hmmm. Did Forth become an ANSI standard in '89, '94, or both? Article just changed from 89 to 94, my guess is both (2 versions of the standard), but need to research...
My apologies about the problem with the list of saints page. You made a change while I was in the middle of a major change and when I tried to add back all the changes you made, I missed a couple. -- Zoe
