Resolved

Category namespaces

  • "Category:", "Talk:", etc. prefixes on CAT:CSD missing--increases chance of accidentally deleting the speedy related pages, etc.
    • There appears to be no prefixes (Template: and Wikipedia:) on any categories. --Dmcdevit 28 June 2005 04:02 (UTC)

Special chars

Special chars at bottom of Edit window displaying "?" instead of the chars.

Mystery templates

"Template:Cat", etc. showing up at bottom of New page window, when still blank.

When I make an edit to a brand new page, it tells me that the following templates are used on the page:

Contribs invert selection

  • The "Invert" selection in user contributions only works on the first page viewed. If you go to the next page or change how many contributions are displayed, it forgets to stay inverted. - Lucky13pjn June 28, 2005 04:13 (UTC)

Images bogus size

FIXED bugzilla:2560

  • Images with a size not specified now display as 1px by 1px! It used to display the image in its actual size. For example: --> File:Show changes button.png <--. — oo64eva (Alex) (U | T | C) @ June 28, 2005 04:31 (UTC)
    • I see that as full sized. Evil MonkeyHello June 28, 2005 04:52 (UTC)

Yes this is applicable to MW 1.5 because images without an explicit size showed up fullsize before the upgrade. — oo64eva (Alex) (U | T | C) @ June 28, 2005 05:22 (UTC)

Problems with Unicode

I tried to move Gdansk to Gdan'sk, but it acted as if I had just tried to move it to "Gdansk". Is Unicode not supported in article titles or something? — ????? | ? 28 June 2005 10:30 (UTC)

  • Never mind. It seems the problem was that somebody already made a redirect page at Gdan'sk, but pages like Poznan' work fine. — ????? | ? 28 June 2005 10:33 (UTC)

Show changes kills edit summary

  • Using Show changes erases the Edit summary, unlike Show preview. This bug only happens when you edit a section, instead of the whole article. --cesarb 28 June 2005 04:20 (UTC)

Mystery history

bugzilla:2559

  • There seem to be a lot of History entries like "00:11, 28 June 2005 MediaWiki default"--[1]
All pages created since the upgrade seem to have a similar entry in the history, with some random text supposedly contributed at that time?!?[2]. Niteowlneils 28 June 2005 05:11 (UTC)
  • This is an artifact of a bit of the update that didn't work quite right. They're harmless, but I'll make a note of it and clean them out in a bit. --Brion June 28, 2005 06:32 (UTC)

Toolbar gone

I edit using the cologne blue skin, and the Browse section (equivalent to 'navigation' in the monobook skin), is mysteriously empty of content. This is presumably do to the software update. Can we get this fixed? Ingoolemo talk 2005 June 28 03:51 (UTC)

I've filed this as bugzilla:2557. --Brion June 28, 2005 04:33 (UTC)

I use the "Classic" skin, and about 90% of the items in the top section of the sidebar are gone. --Carnildo 28 June 2005 03:59 (UTC)

I've filed this as bugzilla:2557. --Brion June 28, 2005 04:33 (UTC)

I'd like to say that I'm disappointed that, after yesterday's software upgrade, the option "Random page" seems to have been deleted. I used it a lot, and more than half my many many edits were the result of hitting "Random page" a few times (and then following links of interest) until I saw something that I could clean up or otherwise improve. I already left a note to this effect on Jimbo's user page, but I'm not sure that was the best place for it. DS June 28, 2005 14:20 (UTC)

Still there for me in the MonoBook skin. Filiocht | Talk June 28, 2005 14:23 (UTC)

"Editing an out-of-date revision"

No idea whether this has been discussed somewhere else or not, but let me just mention it here: When you look at the edit history of a page and click on the most recent date (on top of the whole list) you are now told (wrongly) that this is not the latest version of the page.

Also, could it be that some images are just not shown? <KF> June 28, 2005 06:42 (UTC)

I'm guessing that may be to do with how under 1.5 the current revision is given an id like old revisions of the article. Evil MonkeyHello June 28, 2005 07:07 (UTC)

Disappearing images

bugzilla:2583

where has Image:USA transport corps steam loco 5820.jpg gone? Dunc| 28 June 2005 10:48 (UTC)

A number of other images have also disappeared: Image:Reg.jpg (from My Night With Reg) and Image:Pictograms.png (from Toilet), to name just two. <KF> June 28, 2005 12:39 (UTC)
See further up the page at #Images bogus size. Susvolans (pigs can fly) 28 June 2005 12:42 (UTC)
Thanks. I just fixed the image at My Night with Reg, but I must say this is rather a disturbing feature. <KF> June 28, 2005 12:48 (UTC)

No, it's not that it was appearing at 1x1 pixel size. It's gone completely off the wiki. The image description tag remains, but the image itself has vanished. Like someone had deleted it, and then restored the image description page, but the deletion log shows nothing. The question is, how many and which ones has this happened to and where can they be retrieved from? (it ought to be in the database dump of a while ago?) Dunc| 28 June 2005 14:17 (UTC)

I had the same problem with Image:BN 251 IL Eola.jpg, but since I was on the computer that still had the original at the time, I just re-uploaded it. slambo June 28, 2005 15:53 (UTC)
It's not in the upload log either. When did you upload it? Here or on commons? When did you see it last? --Brion June 28, 2005 15:35 (UTC)

It was uploaded to Wikipedia around or just before 10 September 2004. I think I saw it last Thursday which was 23 June 2005. However, [3] indicates that I created it on 21 June 2005, though I may have edited the page then, I certainly uploaded it earlier. Dunc| 28 June 2005 16:39 (UTC)

Edit conflicts not working anymore, and section edit broken

So, I was happily adding my latest comment here, and I got an edit conflict. Before saving, I took a look at the page's history, and found out it had been saved even with the software returning the edit conflict screen. And, of course, by doing so, it removed a comment another admin left on another section different from the one I was editing. --cesarb 28 June 2005 14:14 (UTC)

Reported as 2572 and 2573. Note: A lot of comments on this page might have been lost in the history; they should be reinstated after the problem is fixed. --cesarb 28 June 2005 14:38 (UTC)

Not working: Bolding in watchlist

Despite my watchlist saying "Pages which have been changed since you last visited them are shown in bold", I have yet to see anything in bold. Note that I have "Enhanced recent changes" checked in my preferences, and can do such things as edit a page by double-clicking. I've tested it in the latest Firefox on Windows and Red Hat Linux. --brian0918&#153; 28 June 2005 14:39 (UTC)

Not working: "Hide my edits" in watchlist

The "Hide my edits" feature seems to do nothing in my watchlist. Tested in Firefox in Windows and Red Hat Linux. --brian0918&#153; 28 June 2005 14:45 (UTC)

Watchlisting of pages do not propagate to talk pages

I have Wikipedia:MediaWiki 1.5 bugs, which didn't have a talk page, on my watchlist. When creating the talk page, the "Watch this page checkbox" wasn't checked; after saving, I had a page which were on my watchlist, but with its talk page not on my watchlist. That shouldn't be possible, as it's confusing. I confirmed the watch/unwatch tabs weren't lying by looking at the recent changes on the watchlist; a recent change to the page was listed but the edit to the talk page wasn't. --cesarb 28 June 2005 17:07 (UTC)

Reported as 2580. --cesarb 28 June 2005 17:11 (UTC)

New

Talk page tab

  • If a Talk page exists, but there's no article, the article tab is now blue--should be back to red.

Show changes

  • "Show changes" from New page window shows text from around the edit window: EG "* If you have created this page in the past few minutes and it has not yet appeared, it may not be visible due to a delay in updating the database. Try purge, otherwise please wait and check again later before attempting to recreate the page."
  • Navigation pane in toolbar was changed from #p-nav to #p-navigation over the upgrade process, breaking many user styles in the process. It would be nice to change them back. kelvSYC June 28, 2005 03:53 (UTC)
    • Due to the way the new sidebar works (generating id's from MediaWiki: messages) this could not be done cleanly. —Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason June 28, 2005 17:28 (UTC)

Watchlist hide own edits

  • Hide your own edits on watchlist seems to be broken. — Trilobite (Talk) 28 June 2005 04:00 (UTC)
Seems to change display to 'display 1 hour'!?! Niteowlneils 28 June 2005 04:04 (UTC)
  • Print tab causes horizontal scroll on most non-article namespace pages (EG when the left-most tab reads "Project page") at 800x600 resolution. Niteowlneils 28 June 2005 04:09 (UTC)

Move rollback

  • Page move rollback does some odd things. I moved a page, checked my contribs, and there were two rollbacks: one for the target which when clicked didn't seem to do anything, and the other for the newly created redirect, which when clicked reverted to a MediaWiki default that read "Confirmation e-mail sent." [7]Trilobite (Talk) 28 June 2005 04:14 (UTC)
  • Print tab is evil! It appears to duplicate the job already done by CSS, but the pages produced are not quite the same. Example: the one generated by the print tab has a sans-serif font (generally easier to read on a screen but serif preferred on paper). This whole function appears to be redundant because of our stylesheets, which strip the menus and make everything appropriate for printing by themselves. I guess this was implemented after calls from people who thought normal pages weren't printable to bring back server-side generation of printable versions. Perhaps the print tab should just lead to a big notice directing people to use the print function of their browsers. — Trilobite (Talk) 28 June 2005 04:14 (UTC)

Page too long notice

  • The "this page is too long" notice at the top of the page has a broken link. It looks exactly like this to me: "This page is 120 kilobytes long. This may be longer than is preferable; see <a href="/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_size">article size</a>." (no link). --Dmcdevit 28 June 2005 04:15 (UTC)
  • I think I've just fixed this. Try now. — Trilobite (Talk) 28 June 2005 04:37 (UTC)

Reason for deletion missing

  • When deleting pages, the "Reason for deletion:" box no longer seems to default to the beginning of the latest content. Niteowlneils 2005-06-28 04:39:38 (UTC)
It only does that for short pages, should be same behavior as previously. --Brion June 28, 2005 04:46 (UTC)
I just went to San Jose, California (~75K), clicked Delete, and the Reason box was empty. Niteowlneils 28 June 2005 04:56 (UTC)
You mean like how it's supposed to be and was previously? -- Cyrius| 28 June 2005 13:08 (UTC)
I have seen it on a short page (Paul Erdős), where the suggested reason was just "content was:". --cesarb 28 June 2005 04:58 (UTC)

Section edit bug

  • Looks like page duplication/section edit bug may be back. Niteowlneils 2005-06-28 04:39:38 (UTC)

Revert/Bad edit

  • This edit [8] shows my apparently reverting some changes to this section. I'm pretty sure I made my edits to a fresh copy of this page after getting an edit conflict. Let's see if someone else mentions similar oddities. (SEWilco 28 June 2005 05:31 (UTC))

Unblocking users

Looks like there might be a problem trying to remove blocks. First, I tried unblocking User:195.93.21.67 because its an AOL proxy. The unblock got listed on the block log but the expiry time on Special:Ipblocklist did not change. Next, ABCD test blocked himself for one hour, but neither him or I could remove the block before it expired. Again, they got listed on Special:Log/block [10] but no changes on Special:Ipblocklist.
