Wikipedia:Index > Wikipedia:Pages needing attention

Of course, every entry on Wikipedia deserves attention. But some entries deserve tender loving attention. If you come across a page that you think needs a lot of work, but have no idea how to approach it, list it here so that others can find it.

Do not add articles in the following categories

Other pages that frequently require loving attention

Please date your entries here. This makes it easier to judge when pages no longer need attention. Undated entries may be arbitrarily removed. You can sign and add the date at the same time by inserting ~~~~ (four tildes).

Please indicate the reason for listing a page. Pages listed with no reason given may be arbitrarily removed.

A code of honour applies -- for each time you add an article to this list, try to fix an article already on the list.

Articles that have good information, but need work for some reason

  • Happening - Perhaps should redirect to performance art, which grew out of the 1960s form; or perhaps should be a separate subject. The content there, mentioning one artist, is surely inadequate. -- Smerdis of Tlön 00:25, 24 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • Neen art - reasons for the need of a rewrite are discussed on its talk page. Angela 18 Aug 2003. Still true 23 Nov. Angela
  • Sacred art - a small stub, surely there's lots to write about it. At18 00:28, 22 Aug 2003 (UTC)
  • Website art - seems to be some thoughts that came to mind while writing it. RedWolf 07:44, Nov 22, 2003 (UTC)

Countries, Bulgaria

The pages below could use some wikifying, will try and do it for some of them. Dori 07:15, Nov 19, 2003 (UTC)

Countries, North Korea

  • Korean Workers' Party needs wikification, general editing to bring up to date and possibly NPOV Dori 06:09, Nov 15, 2003 (UTC)

Countries, China

  • Imperial embassies to China - should indicate that the article is referring to Japanese embassies, and not embassies from every Empire known to man. -- Zoe 04:06 May 15, 2003 (UTC)

Countries, Israel

  • National Union - this looks important, but it needs to be re-organized and dumbed down. I cannot understand what it is supposed to say. Kingturtle 02:41, 30 Oct 2003 (UTC)
    • Does it make more sense now? DanKeshet 23:55, Nov 7, 2003 (UTC)
      • What is meant by "the list?" What is "the list?" Kingturtle 00:18, 20 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Economics, business, businesses, business leaders, sales

  • Careertimes.com.hk looks like it's just an ad for the site; needs fleshing out. -- Khym Chanur 06:49, Oct 30, 2003 (UTC)
  • Commercial Revolution - class notes of some sort; lots of good information, but needs work. Delirium 02:34, Sep 17, 2003 (UTC)
  • Diebold Reads more like a current events criticism of Diebold voting machine with only a token mention (and incomplete) of other things the company does. I removed the worst of the current events which helps get closer to a NPOV, but a lot more should be removed, and a lot more info is neededhank.
  • Freiwirtschaft. Needs to have cons to the theory added. It only has pro agruments for it. I personally would consider this nonsense, but there seem to be enough people who believe it that it needs to be rebuted, rather than just deleted. The article is wildly optimistic about the theory, but completely ignores the problems that it would create. Jrincayc 21:36, 19 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Job creation program: anyone from, or with knowledge of Switzerland able to tackle this one? -- sannse 12:54 Mar 19, 2003 (UTC)
    • The questionable section on Switzerland was removed on August 9, 2003.
  • Norsk Hydro-(from Cleanup) - delete - possibly copyvio, but the text can be rewritten. It's a big Norwegian oil company, and worth a mention. - don't think copyvio, needs article - wikified and copyedited, still a bit stubby (moved here by Cimon Avaro on a pogostick 11:28, Nov 9, 2003 (UTC))
  • Rocketdyne Santa Susana Field Laboratory Contamination. Once listed for deletion but kept. Needs NPOVing and other work. Angela 27 Sep 2003. Still true 23 Nov. Angela
  • Socialist economics: a terrific topic for someone who knows some economic theory and history. It is needed to complement Socialism, which is all politics and no economics. Adam 14:11, 17 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Timeline of U.S. economic indicators - This page hasn't been touched in over six months and is very incomplete. Either someone should invest a lot of time bringing it up to date, or it should be removed. -- Minesweeper 11:31 Apr 20, 2003 (UTC)
  • Honeydew - in bad need of rewriting. -- Schnee 15:00, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • Samovar is rather more lightly adapted from the rec.food.drink.tea FAQ than I'd hoped; anyone who can make it look less like its source is encouraged to -- perhaps someone who's actually used one. --Calieber 18:42, Oct 29, 2003 (UTC)
  • Subsistence farming - a stub. Kingturtle 23:33, 19 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Latin names of regions - factual problems. Kingturtle 23:33, 19 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Porto Velho. Barely a stub, and what's there is incorrect. RickK 02:05, 17 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - Desperately needs historical content and solid facts. Kaijan 02:02, 21 Aug 2003 (UTC)
  • Saint Petersburg - two versions need to be worked together Ruhrjung 20:28, 1 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • Kaliningrad Oblast and Yasnaya Polyana - Nicely written, but some of the descriptions seem somewhat over the top: It was a scene of earlier massive Soviet Union military build-up and now the scene of total massive breakdown. These surrealistic visions stand in stark contrast to the vanished city of Königsberg, the city of Immanuel Kant and the city of kings. -- Someone who knows more about this history of Kaliningrad/Konigsberg, Russia, and East Prussia should have a look. -- BCorr ¤ Брайен 22:54, 16 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Historical figures

  • List of Mughal emperors - needs help getting links and names standardized, formatting.
  • Marcus Aurelius - Too little content for such an important figure. -- llywrch 18:53, 16 Aug 2003 (UTC)
  • Péter Medgyessy. I have no idea who this person is, but the article is hardly NPOV. RickK 02:48, 20 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • Menander - aside from having 1911-ese (and a whole lot of screwed up Greek words), it also doesn't have anything recent about him (such as Girl Of Samos, and whatever else may have been discovered since 1911). Adam Bishop 20:37, 2 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • HMS Largs. Needs sentences. RickK 03:08, 9 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Regained Territories needs attention from a knowledgable neutral individual(s) (do any exist?) Maximus Rex 04:19, 7 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Religion-driven politics is in need of massive overhaul. Should it even be a page? --Alex S 03:25, 6 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • History of Spain needs a lot more information. --Alex S 14:38, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Roman Empire only goes up the Flavian emperors...that's only a quarter of the empire's history. Adam Bishop 22:05, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • Treaty of London, 1839 - wrong date? Content would imply 14th Century. Andy Mabbett 17:16, 18 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • 12th Street Riot. In order to avoid a POV war, I've decided to let other look at the page and its corresponding talk page and decide for themselves if the article is fine as it stands. It reads like a political screed, to me. RickK 04:13, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • History of Africa - This article is Eurocentric to the point of being racist. It's shocking that any article on African history doesn't detail black African states like Ghana, Mali, Songhai, Kanem-Bornu, Kano, Ashanti, Oyo, Benin, Ife, Monomontapa, or the Swahili-speaking city-states in East Africa, just to name some of the most notable. -- 172, May 3, 2003
    • Agreed, and phrases like "Spain had completely thrown off the Muslim yoke" aren't what you'd call exemplary NPOV either. I'd also suggest that the subject is far too big for the way that ths article tries to treat it. Really, it should be a very general overview of regions and centuries peppered with links to other articles. A bit like History of the United States only several times the area and at least 10 times the timespan -- Onebyone 18:44, 28 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • History of Fiji and/or Politics of Fiji - excellently written, but much has changed in the government over the past two years. These pages need tremendous updates. See: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] -- Kingturtle 03:24 Apr 4, 2003 (UTC)
  • Three of the articles in the History of the United States series (Military, Colonial, and Demographic) have been renamed to correct a capitalization error and need links to be fixed. More importantly, the topic-series boxes of all the articles in the series need to be fixed. -Smack 19:20 22 Jul 2003 (UTC)
  • Unit 731 (World War II Japanese biological warfare research unit) has outline in place and needs more facts Astudent 05:16 21 May 2003 (UTC)
  • Watergate Scandal - there is a discrepancy regarding the tally of votes against the Articles of Impeachment in the House Judiciary Committee. See [[Talk::Watergate Scandal]] for details. - Dominus 01:59, 14 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • Kosovo War currently hopelessly biased, looks like it could have been written by the Slobodan Milosovic propaganda department G-Man 20:45, 18 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • Nurse Nayirah, while containing important information, presents it in a very POV way. For example, "The media lapped it up..." -- Khym Chanur 01:54, Oct 31, 2003 (UTC)
  • The Adjoint functor article is mising any explanation of why this is interesting or any wnyone cares about sheaves. Dominus 18:40, 2 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Costate equations - is this correct? Kingturtle 23:33, 19 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Fourier transform is pretty awful. It contains many factual errors, and it is primarily a discusion of Fourier series, rather than of the Fourier transform. Dominus 04:54, 3 Nov 2003 (UTC) Now it's better than it was, but it could still use attention. A Fourier inversion theorem ought to be added. The space of Fourier transforms of Lebesgue-integrable functions (i.e., functions, the integrals of whose absolute value is finite) is not well understood, last time I heard. The Fourier transfrom of such a function may fail to be Lebesgue-integrable, so "properly" improper integrals appear in the inversion theorem. The set of tempered distributions is its own image under the Fourier transform, so that version of the inversion theorem works out neatly. Then there's the whole matter of quadratically integrable functions.
  • Laplace transform says "The transform has a number of properties that make it useful for analysing linear dynamic system. " and then doesn't give any examples of how or why it is usedul for analyzing linear dynamic systems. The page is little more than a long list of identities with no indication of the relevance or usefulness of its subject. Dominus 04:56, 3 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • List of relativistic equations - blanked for a long time; could be a useful list, but needs some explanations. -- Minesweeper 23:54, 27 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • Quantum electrodynamics - I fixed the broken LaTex formula to conform to the author's apparent intent. I'm not sure if the "D" in the sentence following the formula should also be slashed. Could someone who knows QED double-check this please? -- Ortonmc 23:22, 13 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • The Sheaf article is mising any explanation of why this is interesting or any wnyone cares about sheaves. Dominus 18:40, 2 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Adam's Curse - needs someone with knowledge of genetics to bulk up the article. Iam 05:17, Oct 18, 2003 (UTC)
  • Hans Asperger - could use a once over. Kingturtle 23:33, 19 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Diabetes mellitus - not up to the standard of scientific knowledge. Kpjas
  • Lamaze is, strictly speaking, POV; if there's anti-Lamaze viewpoint, it's not represented --Charles A. L. 18:20, Nov 12, 2003 (UTC)
  • Medical ventilator - little information and poorly written. Although I have contributed on related subjects, I don't feel overwhelmingly competent to fix it. Kosebamse 22:15, 6 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • Myasthenia gravis - needs links --bdesham 14:34 23 Jul 2003 (UTC)
    • this needs major rewriting to make it sound more like an encyclopedia and less like a brochure Alex.tan 11:09, 1 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • Snoring - overemphasizes the fact that there are a number of reasons that result in someone snoring but then fails to specify. KF 07:51, 7 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Stress (medicine): recently collected from a scattering of very poor articles to one single poor article, but now needs filling in by someone with real medical / neurochemical knowledge. -- The Anome 17:21, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Film criticism: The distinction between critics and reviewers isn't as clear cut as this article makes out. Could use a new approach, more history and many more names/sites of active critics. Scarequotes 22:17, Sep 15, 2003 (UTC)
  • International broadcast of Japan a bit of a mess SimonP 19:19 20 Jul 2003 (UTC)
  • Radio programming – Someone with a good sense of radio history should do a better sorting job -- right now, "old time" and "modern" are the only two categories, which means the latter is quite a catch-all. More information on programming would be nice, too. -- Scarequotes 23:10, Oct 7, 2003 (UTC)
  • Say You Want a Revolution (I think this goes here. A little context would be nice. RickK 04:21, 12 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • The First 20 Million Is Always The Hardest: desperately needs a rewrite by a literate person who has seen it. - Tualha 03:28, Nov 13, 2003 (UTC)
  • Thriller film - A recent update of that ancient page has not improved it. I'd say this article needs a more detailed definition and a representative (i e limited!) list of examples. --KF 11:21, 13 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Hackers (movie) - has some info, still needs plot, more details. I will give it a shot soon myself, but in case someone else has an urge to improve it in the meantime I am listing it here. Dori 18:14, Nov 15, 2003 (UTC)

People, professions, organizations and groups

  • Albert Abrams - total mess, but with interesting information - see talk page - Muriel Gottrop 08:37, 2 Aug 2003 (UTC) (this first two)
  • Chang and Eng Bunker: says "They were joined at the side by what was discovered after their death in 1874 to be only a superficial connection involving skin tissue." I think this is incorrect. I believe their livers were also conjoined. Dominus 21:26, 9 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • Centenarian can't decide whether Daniel F. Bakeman or George Fruits is the last surviving veteran of the American Revolutionary war. Dominus 18:31, 2 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Anne Hutchinson - is a caricature of her biography, I already added link for a source for rewriting. andy 19:41, 14 Sep 2003 (UTC)
  • Jerry Lucas - long, lauditory (auto?)biography, needs NPOV, wikification, organization -- Cyan 17:51, 9 Sep 2003 (EDT)
  • Japanese person needs work. Maximus Rex 21:17, 10 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • John Kluge: All that's here is a history of Metromedia, really; it could be moved to "Metromedia" and re-edited. We need a real biography page for him, but I don't know enough about him to flesh it out. -lee 17:26, 14 Aug 2003 (UTC)
  • Michael Ledeen - Appears stronly POV. -- Minesweeper 05:31, 3 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Helga M. Novak - No information on why she is notable (good Google hits, but in German). —Frecklefoot 21:14, 12 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Karl Eberhard Schongarth - first paragraph makes little sense. The second paragraph is mainly a series of phrases with unknown acronyms. RedWolf 06:22, Nov 11, 2003 (UTC)
  • F. Van Wyck Mason - This is still too much of a dictionary article and needs to be rounded off. What is oc more concern though, is the item of his having been "mistakenly arrested for murder", why, and how was it resolved? Can anything done about the header "F." etc.? Dieter Simon 23:55, 24 Oct 2003 (UTC)
Have now blanked page so that if someone feels up to it they can rewrite the article Wikipedia-style. But make sure you got the gen on the "mistakenly arrested for murder" item. Dieter Simon 22:58, 25 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Philosophy and Larry's Text

  • Action (philosophy) - I don't really understand what it says. Andre Engels 16:26, 12 Oct 2003 (UTC) -- Replaced. I don't know the wiki way enough to know what to do here. vanden 04:28, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Albert Camus/the Absurd. Wikification/rewrite. Move to non sub-page. Angela 17:17, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)
  • Larry's Text is a set of pages input by Larry Sanger in the early days of Wikipedia. It is 350+(!) pages of introduction to philosophy lectures he gave at Ohio State University. Rendering it all encyclopedic has been a daunting task, and many of these articles still need a lot of work.
  • Voltaire - needs re-organizing, updating, editing for style (most of the article is 1911EB); and some judicious trimming probably wouldn't hurt. —Paul A 06:01, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Physical science

  • Camphor I made this page, however I would rest better at night if someone with a proper reference checked to make sure I have the correct isomer for the chemical name as in the diagram. Maximus Rex 04:23, 7 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Nuclear fission Seriously cut-and-paste; headings handled wrong–I could fix that, but– not well organized; history is spotty, in places unclear or misleading. Dandrake 05:49, Oct 22, 2003 (UTC)
  • Crank needs disambiguation. Wake 03:17, 23 Nov 2003 (UTC)

===Political science / Law === (also see Crime, Government, etc.)

  • Unconscious mind - article structure breaks down after the first section. --bdesham 01:05 14 Jul 2003 (UTC)
  • MCS --Trying to alert interested parties about the cluster of pages which I have listed under MCS. The pages are a mixture of psychology and information processing.
    • Never mind. I found a link: [6]. It appears to be real.

Religion, Cults and self-help

  • Jerusalem syndrome - this needs to be edited so the everyday reader knows what it means. it is a bit sloppy, and assumes the reader knows what Jerusalem syndrome is already. Kingturtle 03:57, 16 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • Persecution of Muslims - some people are working on it, but it needs help. Kingturtle 23:33, 19 Nov 2003 (UTC)
  • The Bible in Islam serious NPOV problems here. Seems like it was written by Ali-Sina or someone from an anti-islam propaganda/agitation group many verses being quoted into fabricated contexts. Might be best for someone to re-write it.
    • IMO, this article looks much better now, but it still needs some modern scholarship. RK 22:09, Nov 16, 2003 (UTC)
  • M-theory simplified - so far, this is mostly a rather basic introduction to (super)string theory, without actually discussing M-theory save for mentioning it in the first sentence. -- Schnee 15:53, 3 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • Reptilian humanoid - This page has been in extreme flux, between those with extreme-dinothrope opinions, and those who question the existance/dominance of "Reptiloids". Both make sweeping edits, and I hope that the end result will be a page showing concern for both reptiloids, and for those who believe in them :) JackLynch
