PRODUCT

-CURRENT PRODUCTS-

PIG IRON is raw iron, the immediate product of smelting iron ore with coke and limestone in a blast furnace. Pig iron has a very high carbon content, typically 4-5%, which makes it very brittle and not very useful directly as a material. The three kinds of Pig iron manufactured are:

Foundry Grade Pig Iron – It is used by the foundries for casting and is sold to major customers in Eastern and Northern India.

Basic Grade Pig Iron - It is used for steel making and is sold to various steel plants in Eastern India.

Special Grade Pig Iron – It is used for casting.

LAM COKE The stamp-charging technology of the coke oven plant will allow blending of low cost soft coking coals with hard coking coals, thereby reducing the average input cost and producing good quality coke. The coke shall be sold to various Blast Furnaces, Ferro Alloy Plants, Chemical Plants and Foundries across India.

CHROME CONCENTRATES Chrome concentrate is used in ferro chrome/ stainless steel production and is a value-added product made through beneficiation of low-grade chrome ore (25-40 per cent Cr2O3) that is not directly saleable.

FERRO CHROME A 50,000 TPA Ferro Chrome plant with 2 x 16.5 MVA Submerged Arc Furnace supported by indigenous technology for producing Ferro Chrome is being set up at Kalinganagar. It will be used for making Stainless Steel.

-FUTURE PRODUCTS -

SPONGE IRON A 300,000 TPA Sponge Iron Plant with 2 x 500 TPA Sponge Iron Kilns equipped with Lurgi Technology for producing DRI(Direct Reduced Iron) is being set up at Kalinganagar. It shall be used as a feed for Steel Making in our Steel Melt Shop.

SPECIAL AND STAINLESS STEEL A 0.5 million TPA Special and Stainless Steel Plant is being set up at Kalinganagar with a 70 / 80 tons Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) with AOD / VOD, LRF and Continuous Casting Machine. It will be used for producing Alloy and Stainless Steel.

GROUP ACTIVITIES

The VISA Group traces its beginnings to 1994, when Mr Vishambhar Saran decided it was time to forgo a comfortable position of Director (Raw Materials) at Tata Steel, India’s largest private sector steel company, to pursue his own vision. Equipped with a Rs 10 lakh capital, 25 years of industry experience and guts of steel, he has created a Rs 1,600 crore conglomerate in the minerals and metals industry.

VISA’s international trading operations serve an important role between the localised availability of critical raw material at one end and the globalised requirement of customised grades at the other.

VISA International, the holding company has two arms:

VISA Steel Ltd (formerly known as VISA Industries Ltd.) is the torchbearer in India, with a focus on manufacturing and logistics activities. It is registered in Bhubaneswar and has its corporate office in Kolkata.

VISA Comtrade AG controls the international trading operations, headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, with subsidiaries in London, Hong Kong and Brisbane

VISA POWER a part of visa group, has set a target of setting up 2,500 mw power plants both in eastern and western India.
