Monterey, California

Monterey is a city located near the Pacific coast in northern California. For much of the city's history it was famous for being associated with a successful fishery in Monterey Bay. That changed in the 1950s when the fishery collapsed. The city is now famous for having one of the largest aquariums in North America and for hosting several important marine science laboratories.
