Plot
The film tells the story of a governess, Henriette Deluzy-Desportes (Bette Davis) who is accused of having an affair with her employer, the Duc de Praslin (Charles Boyer), and who is then accused of complicity in the murder of his wife, the Duchesse de Praslin (Barbara O'Neil).
Awards and nominations
While the movie was not a box-office success, it was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Picture; O'Neil was nominated for Best Supporting Actress; and Ernest Haller for Best Cinematography.
Trivia
The title of this film inspired the 1941 animated film "All This and Rabbit Stew".
