Spacemen 3 was a British space rock band of the 1980s. They formed in Rugby in the early part of the decade and began touring, finally recording in 1986 on Glass Records (1986 in music). Sound of Confusion was not terribly successful but it attracted a loyal fanbase; the follow-up, The Perfect Prescription, expanded the group's core of fans.

After Playing with Fire (1989 in music), personnel changes, drug problems and interband tension broke the band apart soon after Recurring (1991 in music). was their last album together, and their most popular. By the time of its release, they had already split up into the bands Spectrum and Spiritualized. A compilation of previous recordings, Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs To was released in 1990.
