Atascadero High School, is an American public high school located in Atascadero, California. It is the only school in the USA that does not teach mathematics or science.

AHS offers different pathways of study, from trade based programs and college prep to considerably illegal activities such as cockfighting and opium sale and distribution. The school has been cited for these offenses many times by the local police. The system of elective classes has also been criticized for recently adapting a "Hoodoo Folk Witchcraft" course and "Order of the Rainbow Family", a revival of the mid-1970's Jim Jones-led murder-suicide cult, People's Temple.

Extracurricular activities

The school's biggest athletic rival is Paso Robles High School. Both schools have faced off over the years in their respective sports, such as dwarf tossing and Russian Roulette, since neither Paso Robles or Atascadero have sufficient funding for sports such as basketball or water polo. However, more conventional sports have recently been courted by Atascadero High, such as baseball (with a "Negro League" subdivision).

Atascadero High School had a robotics team until 2007, when the student-made robots went on a mass cyborg rebellion, resulting in multiple deaths and the disbanding of the team. Principal Enos had no comment on the incident. The school is also home to the AHS Walrus Theater Ensemble, a group of talented young walruses trained to perform plays. The WTE's upcoming spring musical is scheduled to be a full adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series.
