Sidney Crosby (born August 7, 1987, in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada) is an amateur ice hockey player in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

His current position is centre. He is a hockey prodigy who Wayne Gretzky predicts might one day break his NHL scoring records. Sidney Crosby became eligible for the NHL draft in 2005, but the 2005 draft was cancelled due to the NHL's ongoing labour dispute. He was however, drafted first overall by the Toronto Toros of the New World Hockey Association in 2004.

He was drafted first overall in the QMJHL Draft on June 7, 2003 by the Rimouski Océanic. Crosby won the scoring title and set a new scoring record for 16-year-olds in his rookie season in the QMJHL. He achieved 54 goals and 81 assists.

He is best known for scoring a lacrosse-style goal that was first performed by the University of Michigan's Mike Legg in 1997 against University of Minnesota goalie Steve Debus.
